Valley Stream is a town in upstate New York, located on the south bank of the Hudson River. It is bordered by Westchester County to the north and east, Rockland County to the south, and Putnam County to the west. Valley Stream was first settled in 1784 by Loyalists from Ulster County who fled British rule during the American Revolution. The town was named for valley running through it. The first gun barrels were made in Valley Stream around 1800. By 1825, however, production had increased so much that there were two blast furnaces in Valley Stream that produced munitions at a rate of one barrel per day. In 1852, President James Buchanan signed an executive order authorizing construction of a railroad through Valley Stream—the first such action ever taken by an American president. The townspeople responded with enthusiasm and built several mills in what is now downtown Valle stream to help support their rapidly growing industry. In 1861, when Union troops besieged Fort Anderson on riverbank near present-day Dunkirk, New York they decided to take advantage of nearbygaard dyke which cut off all access to supplies for Fort Drummond on Staten Island and also allowed them easy access into New York City In 1865 General Ulysses S Grant ordered his army across the river at White Plains Landing upstream from where today's Belt Parkway crosses it for its approach march downriver towards Richmond Virginia; this event helped give birth to modern warfare as gunships could then be used effectively against infantry forces long distance away from battle sites

Valley Stream is a town in western New York, United States. It is the seat of Erie County and is located along the Vallejo River. The population was 9,845 at the 2010 census. Valley Stream was first settled by French colonists in 1664 as part of what is now Niagara County. In 1795, it became part of Albany County; however, it reverted to Erie County when that county was created in 1825. The village of Valley Stream was incorporated as a town on April 14, 1853, from portions of the towns of Batavia and Amherstburg. The town's name comes from the vallejo (Valley stream), which flows through it and its namesake river valley. Valley Stream has a history dating back to earliest European settlement in this area: early Dutch explorers noted a large body of water east of Buffalo Falls where the Vallejo River empties into Lake Ontario—the current site of Buffalo Falls—and they named it "Willemstadt" or "VILLELIMSTADT". English settlers called this stream "Valley Brook" because there were few trees growing there – only brooks ran through valleysbrooks like those near Maidenhead creek in Hertfordshire (now Oxfordshire). In 1664–65, François de La Salle explored and mapped much of what are now eastern New York with his expedition under Lieutenant-Governor John Montresor; he named many places after French noblemen including Fort George on Nassau Bay (Now Great Falls National Park) after Marquess de La Fayette and Fort William Johnson after Sir James Johnson (1608-1677). On July 10, 1666, Lieutenant Governor David Wilkins granted a charter to John Winthrop for an agricultural colony at present day Valley Stream; this colony would eventually become Boston. The first permanent European settlers arrived at Valley Brook Farms on October 25th by boat from Stamford Bridge over Long Island Sound – making Valley Brook one of the shortest crossings ever made by sea; they were Lewis André who came with his wife Anne Hutchinson and their two children Pierre & Marie André and toddler Thomas Hutchinson - all six men aboard small privateer ship “Stedman” together with 5 women and 3 children numbered among them - They landed around 6 PM onOctober 26th on Little Egg Harbor beach about south westwardof modern Williamsville NY While ashore no damage or disturbance took place just Enjoying their fresh air fresh water tasty fruits game fish
