Utica, New York is home to the Utica Rifle and Pistol Club which has been meeting since 1871. The club offers a variety of shooting opportunities for all levels of shooters including trap, skeet, sporting clays and rifle/pistol matches. With over 400 members, Utica Rifle and Pistol Club is one of the largest rifle/pistol clubs in the United States. The UtICA Rifle & Pistol Club was formed in 1871 when three young men from Utica decided to form a club to shoot target holders. Initially they used local targets but soon began using larger caliber targets made by Wilkinson Manufacturing Company in Buffalo, New York. The Utica Rifle & Pistol Club became world-renowned for their large target shoots and continue to do so to this day. Utica is a town in the state of New York, United States. The population was 14,827 at the 2010 census. Utica is the seat of Seneca County. It is part of the Utica-Rome, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Utica were Dutch traders in 1614 and 1615 who named it "Willemstadt" after Willem van Rensselaer, one of their number. In 1795, the Connecticut General Assembly chartered a town in Seneca County called "Utica". The original name given to the new town was also "Utica", but it reverted to its original name on October 12, 1831 when it became part of Rome Township. On January 1, 1885, Rome Township was disbanded and merged into Seneca County as an additional township with the same name. On December 4, 1886, Utica elected its first mayor by popular vote; Hosea Dudley took office that day. By 1900 there were over 25 businesses in Utica with a total payroll over $10 million dollars annually! The community had grown large enough that only two blocks of Main Street remained undeveloped for public use when a business district was planned for downtown Utica in 1914 which never happened because during World War I industrial production increased significantly and made downtown too busy for commercial uses; instead much larger housing developments sprang up around State Street and Broadway Business District north of First Avenue (now State Street). In 1911 Mayor Dudley proposed moving city government from Hartford to UtICA due to concerns about racial discrimination against African Americans living within city limits at that time which still exists today as there are no open positions or programsmatic efforts targeting black residents within City Hall even though they make up more than 50% percent of the overall population! However this proposal met with resistance from both local officials and citizens who felt they were being forced out without just cause despite having contributed substantially to city growth since before City Hall even existed! Finally on November 3rd 1911 Mayor Dudley submitted his resignation effective December 8th due to health problems that had been limiting his ability actually do his job asMayor including leading efforts behind closed doors throughout much of 2011 while he underwent treatments outside USA; however many feel this decision should not be seen as simply quitting rather as stepping down from high-profile mayoral responsibilities well into retirement age! Despite this opposition most people seem generally supportive or at least indifferent towards Mayor Dudley’s tenure as Mayor despite some controversies such as attempts by him unsuccessfully to rezone portions of town center specifically designed for white retail development which would have resulted in loss off valuable tax revenue streams) During World War II massive amounts steel production began taking place all around Utica making downtown increasingly noisy with noise levels reaching 100 decibels some times during peak hours making walking difficult or impossible especially if you are claustrophobic like many people are today! The history of target holders began in the 1700s when Englishmen first turned to shooting as a way to improve their marksmanship. Target holders became common in many parts of the world, and various designs and materials were used until the early 21st century.

Utica was founded in 1795 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte and was the first town in New York State. It is located on the Utica River, about 20 miles northeast of Albany. The first permanent settler in Utica was Nicholas-Jacques Conte, who built a small cabin on the bank of the river. In 1804, he and his wife, Marie-Hélène Boudreau, moved to what is now Utica from Niagara Falls. They opened a store and tavern called the Hermitage on Front Street. The couple also helped found the First Congregational church in Utica in 1806. The growth of Utica led to increased trade with Great Britain and other Northwestern United States nations. By 1830, there were over 100 businesses operating in Utica; this number decreased slightly during the 1840s as slavery became more common in New York state. However, by 1850,UtICA had regained its previous level of activity; over 150 businesses operated within its boundaries at that time. During the late 19th century and early 20th century,UtICA experienced significant growth due to emerging technologies such as automobiles and radios; however, it struggled during World War I due to diminished trade opportunities with Europe/Germany (the war's main belligerent). After World War I ended,UtICA saw some rapid economic growth which continued through the 1920s into 1930s when oil became available for processing into gasoline and other fuels. During World War II (1939-1945), Utica was one of four U.S.-occupied areas between Canada and Japan; various industries were developed here including aircraft manufacturing plants (Boeing) and shipbuilding yards (Fremont Shipbuilding). However following V-E Day (9 May 1945), most industry shut down due to enemy occupation restrictions placed upon many American manufacturers by British officials determined that these facilities would be used for production only of munitions or weapons deemed essential for victory against Nazi Germany undefeated after six years of warfare - an event known as "Thread Your Needle".

The Utica, New York area was first settled by the Lenape Native Americans in the late 15th century. The area was later annexed by the Dutch Republic in 1624. In 1795, the United States acquired Utica from the Dutch Republic and renamed it as a city. In 1814, Utica became a state of New York and continued to be named after Utica until its merger with Niagara Falls in 1925.
