In 1913, Elijah Burch began manufacturing revolvers at his Elmira Factory under licence from Colt’s manufacturer metallic cartridge revolvers licensee N&W Richards Repeating Arms Company Ltd., which he founded as part of arrangements between Richards Brothers Machine Shop Limited and N&W Western Star Agency Limited for marketing rights to their manufactured products within British Columbia (Canada). In 1917 Burch transferred his operations westward to Calgary AB where he continued manufacture until his death in 1959; His son Elijah II took over operations upon his father's death while still living in Calgary until 1984 when it was passed along to his grandson Samuel Burch III who currently operates the business today under the name Samuel-Burch Holsters Incorporated out of Norwalk CT with its manufacturing facility located adjacent to Smithtown Savings Bank on Route 9A outside Utica NY

The earliest known inhabitants of what is now Utica were Lenape Indians who lived along the Mohawk River before they were displaced by European settlers in 1624. The first settler in what is now Utica was Nicholas Gist (1762-1835), a Dutchman who arrived with his family around 1800 and built a home on the site where he later named his town after himself—Gist's Ferry or Gist's Landing—though he never moved into it. In 1814, United States Army Captain Nathaniel Banks set up camp on what is now State Street nearpresent-day Union Square to scout for sites for a new military post in central New York City; he selected this location because it had good water access and could be defended against possible attack by Native Americans living downstream along the river. After several months of exploration, Banks renamed his post Fort George Wright after General George Wright (1759-1828) commanding American forces during the War of 1812; however, no action occurred at Wright until after abolitionists successfully lobbied Congress to name Fort Niagara instead in 1825). When General James Kempton opened up Buffalo Bayou between Albany and Buffalo on July 24, 1826 – just three days after President James K Polk had declared alligator poaching a national emergency –Utica’s men began construction on what would become Kempton’s Millrace/Kemptonville commemorating their leader’s exploit which followed two years earlier when he discovered fresh water flowing through an underground gorge en route from Lake Erie via Buffalo to Niagara Falls… soon locals dubbed “Kemptonville” due not only to subsequent development but also due to rumors that some rich fur traders resided thereabouts! It wasn't until 1830 that foot traffic startedgrowinginutICA; local farmers established several stores including Sodus & Sons grocery store at present day Elmira Road and Herrick & Co flour mill at present day Main Street corner Armory Avenue…. mercantile activitiesboomed early one hundred years ago!! One such pioneer was Jonathan Herrick who operated Anson Mills east side 2nd Road…. today we find Justus Mercier Chocolate Factory located within walking distance….. other businesses dating back 100 years include: Masonic Hall building across street from Courtyard shopping plaza current day First National Bank

Utica is the seventh-largest city in New York City by population and the second-largest city on the Mohawk River system after Buffalo. The first Europeans to come to Utica were French traders who founded a trading post called La Rochelle on Governors Island in 1713. In 1814, General George Washington visited Utica during his journey across America and gave a speech at Canandaigua College/The Mechanics' Institute which has been preserved as an unofficial historical document ever since. In 1825, Utica became a town when it was formed from parts of three towns: Fulton, Hamilton and Websterville; all three towns had voted to join forces under Mayor John Pemberton to form what would become known as "The Townships". In 1827, Utica voted to annex into the City of Syracuse because it felt that Syracuse was becoming too large for its own good and wished to remain an important center for trade with other nearby cities like Buffalo and Rochester. However, this annexation failed due to opposition from some residents within Utica who felt that their community should stay independent. During World War II, Utica played a significant role in patriotic activities such as manufacturing munitions for the war effort or providing food for troops stationed overseas. After hostilities ended in 1945, many uticans returned home but continued export activity until about 1970 when all factories closed down except for one that manufactured batteries until 2006 when it shut down again due to federal regulations against battery manufacturers doing business within 50 miles of any college or university
Utica, New York is a town in Chenango County, New York, United States. The population was 9,549 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Chenango County. Utica was chartered on December 14, 1785 by the Connecticut settlers from Saybrook Township in that state as a town. The first post office in Utica opened on January 3, 1825. The Erie Railroad built through Utica in 1856 and its main line ran north to Schenectady and south to Binghamton; however, this line was abandoned ca 1870. In 1892 the Buffalo-Niagara Falls Railway built a branch east from Utica to Canandaigua and then west to Rome (now an incorporated village). This railroad served as an important highway link between Buffalo and Niagara Falls. In 1907 the Town of Utica merged with the Village of Rome as part of a larger consolidation plan sponsored by Governor Nelson Aldrich which aimed to improve public services within new consolidated municipalities. On July 1, 1910, all towns in Chenango County except for Utica were merged into one enlarged city named Syracuse; Syracuse became the only large city in New York State without its own township or rural area until 1973 when it amalgamated with Oneida County's Mohawk Valley Community College District to create Upstate University (now SUNY Empire Campus). In 1957Utica became home to America's first Convair CV-8Starliner airframe factory when McDonnell Aircraft Corporation moved its production lines from Stroudsburg PA to Utica after World War II;the plant continued production until 1990s under various names including McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company - Catastrophe Site/UtICA before finally being closed down completely by 2007 due primarily to financial problems associated with Global Warming phenomena
