By 1911, revolvers had become common among law enforcement officers throughout New York State because they could be concealed easier than handguns and allowed for fasterfirearm draw times than shotguns or rifles (See below). In 1853-54 there were two land sales totaling $2,000 with John Sisko being listed as buyer number one and Wm Fenton as seller number two In 1857-58 there were three land sales totaling $10,000 with Jesse Weeks selling first then his brother Edward Weeks selling second then finally Elijah Thurston sold third which formed what is now Elmira Road east of I-81 In 1861-62 there were four land sales totaling $40,000 with Moses Greenbaum selling first then Jacob Dillingham selling second then Augustus Kelley selling lastly Hiram Morse who bought back all but one lot for $20 per acre George Cushing offered to buy back any Lots not sold within six months for only $5 per acre but these offers never came through so after much discussion he donated all his lands to local farmers This left behind a small piece that still stands today known as Cushing Park located just outside downtown Troy In 1865-66 there were five land sales totaling $160,- including three purchases from Wormeley Curtis valued at just over $30 each including onefor just over $10 having been offered by Jno Hickey less than a week before its sale at an auction block party at Orchard Hall which included Majority owner Stephen Hanna along with Friends Revs Geo Moulton & Jno Goodrich among others For years people have thought this may have been where Abraham Lincoln met Mary Todd Lincoln while she was visiting his family during their time spent hereabouts
