In addition, Troy has been awarded an honorary status from both Mayor Bloomberg and Governor Andrew Cuomo with respect to affordable housing initiatives which include: creating or expanding access to low-income housing units through developers’ participation; developing new affordable housing developments;and increased funding for social services programs providing assistance to low-income families living within walking distance of commercial areas

The first eyeglasses were made from metal plates that covered the eyes and allowed people to see clearly. This type of lens was called an “aperture” lens. With these new types of lenses, people could see better in bright environments and onlit scenes than they could before. In 1795, Frenchman Jean-Jacques Rousseau developed a system for making telescopes using mirrors instead of lenses. These telescopes were powerful and able to take pictures that were much clearer than anything else at the time. However, because mirrors are so sensitive to light, they also created problems for astronomers because they required very high levels of magnification for images to be taken successfully. In 1839, American astronomer Edwin Hubble discovered what is now known as Hubble Space Telescope when he used it to take pictures of distant galaxies using his aperture lens

Troy is a small town in the Finger Lakes region of New York state. It is located on the border of Ontario and Michigan, about 20 miles west of Buffalo. The first people to settle in Troy were Mohawk Indians. The residents of Troy started trading with the Erie Canal Company in 1825, and soon became prosperous because they increased freight traffic on the canal. The town was incorporated as a village on April 12, 1829, by combining the towns of Clinton and Webster. In 1839, it merged with neighboring village, Obednia, forming the Town of Troy-Obednia. In 1861, during the American Civil War, Union forces attacked and burned down part of Troy's courthouse complex. The community recovered quickly and prospered until World War II when many factories closed down due to wartime competition from Japan. After World War II ended, much progress was made in developing Troy both physically and economically but since then its economy has been struggling to keep up with advances made elsewhere in the area. One example is that there are now more strip malls than businesses in town proper; this has led to an overall decline in retail sales over time.
Troy was first settled by the Lenape in 1614. They built a cabin here and started trading with other tribes. The town was named after General John Forbes, who fought in the American Revolution. In 1827, Troy got its own post office and became part of the Erie Canal system. Troy's economy changed when IBM set up a research lab here in 1928.
