On July 1st 1860 our first cotton crop was planted in what is now Old Mill Road! Our land here has always been fertile and we continue to grow crops here today; especially sweet corn and green beans! There are several mills still operating in present day Troy - among them are Capital Cotton Mills Inc., Phelps Dodge Corp., Soo Line Railroad Co., NYSE Euronext AG (Liffe), Mohawk Paper Products Co., Empire Paper Products Incorporated & Mohawk Paper products LLC (fka Empire Paper Products) - making us one big paper production center right here in town! In 1916 we lost everything due to World War I but managed to rebuild thanks to some great donations from people all around America! We even got our very own Hospital built along with a lot of other vital infrastructure such as water systems etc... Some Of The Things That Were Maintained And Upgraded During This Time Include: A Drainage Way For All Of Our Fields Which Was Completed In 1922; A pumping station To suck up all that groundwater which later helped irrigate many acres Of farmland; A Sewer System Installed In 1935 Which Led To Less Water Usage Than When It First Been Built And Made Us More Productive; A Schoolhouse Was Built For Our Youth With An addition Of Many Other Buildings Over The Years Including A Arena/Gym Facility (1964), A Library (1965), An Ice Rink(1979), And More Recently A Multi-purpose Athletic Center WithCourtroom/Hallway(2002). So far there have been many significant changes taking place within our community including advancements in technology such as e-mailing services being available online almost instantaneously like when we Hurricane Sandy hit Downtown Manhattan way back in 2012 (!); rapid technological growth like when we went from having only 2 phone lines per household 4 years ago TO NOW HAVING OVER 10 LINES PER HOUSEHOLD THROUGH THE USE OF ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES INCLUDING SATELLITE TV SERVICE; increased competition like when large businesses moved into older neighborhoods or started putting up new buildings right next door without ever giving us an opportunityto say goodbye; However no change can bring peace or happiness until everyone involved takes responsibility for their actions towards one another...including ourselves!!!
