The Scope Mounts company was founded in 1916 by George A. Smith and his brother, Joe. The first product the brothers created was a tripod mount for camera rigs. From there they developed the modern scope mount, which is still in use today. They were also responsible for creating the first monopod system, which allowed shooters to stabilize their rifles while shooting off-axis. In 1937, they began manufacturing telescopic sights and optics products under their own name as well. In 1965, Scope Mounts merged with Hughes Electronics Corporation to form Hughes-Scopemounts Incorporated. This company continued making scopes and other related equipment until it went bankrupt in 1993. Today, some of the original Scope Mounts products are still in production by various companies across the United States (See list below).

The town was first settled in 1795 by Scots-Irish immigrants who had emigrated from County Armagh, Northern Ireland. In 1824 Tarrytown became part of what was then Albany County and remained so until it merged with Erie County in 1911. The name "Tarrytown" comes from an Irish term meaning "place where traders stop." The early Irish settlers were farmers who came to this area during the Great Famine of 1847-1848 because they could not find land elsewhere in Upstate New York. They named their new settlement after one of their chief traders, Paddy Lynch (or Mahon). In 1881 Tarrytown had a population of 1,500 people and prospered from its cattle market that attracted travelers looking for beef prices to be lower than those found farther west or south. However, World War I caused economic hardships for the town as many men went off to fight and few returned home to help run businesses or provide jobs for their families. During World War II Tarrytown experienced heavy bombing raids by USAAF bombers which resulted in extensive damage to property but no loss of life. In 1946 Tarrytown voted to become an official township and since then has grown steadily through annexation of adjacent townships while maintaining its distinctive character as a small town with independent elected officials. There are a few different types of scope mounts that are often used in the shooting industry, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. The most popular type of scope mount is the Weaver-style scope mount. This type of mount uses one or more screws to attach the scope to the barrel. Other popular types of Scope Mounts include HorizontalBarrelScopes (HBS) and VerticalBarrelScopes (VBS). The HorizontalBarrelScope uses two bearings on either side of the barrel to stabilize it while in use. This type is typically used with rifles that have a shorter barrel than those found on shotguns or handguns. The VerticalBarrelScope, on the other hand, features a vertical bore that allows it to be mounted on any rifle Lengthy barrels can also be mounted using a VBSscope using three screws at each end which provide stability and support for the optic when installed. One main advantage of using a VBSscope over an HBSscope is that you can change magnification without having to remove your rifle from service. Another advantage of mounting a VBSscope onto a long barrel is that you can get up to 4x magnification without breaking your bank! Lastly, some shooters find that they prefer using vertical reticles because they are less distracting when looking through their optics and make target acquisition much easier.

Some photographers used wooden dowel mounts, which had to be screwed into the wall or ceiling in order to hold a camera and lens at different levels. These mounts were easy to move around, but not very stable. Other photographers soon found that they could attach lenses using bellows instead of screws, and these systems became more common. In 1912, French photographer Maurice Leduc attachment a Zeiss Ikon 2/3 inch lens on a metal frame with an expandable bellow system. This system allowed him to position his camera at various heights and angles for better images. The Bell & Howell Company bought Leduc's patents in 1917 and began making their own expandable mounts based on his design. Tarrytown, New York is a town in Otsego County, New York, United States. The population was 5,865 at the 2010 census. Tarrytown is the oldest community in Otsego County and the largest unincorporated community remaining on the same land since it was settled by Europeans in 1788. The first European settler in what is now Tarrytown was Nicholas Percival who bought property from the Mohawk nation on July 20, 1788. He named his purchase "Town of Clinton," after George Clinton, 3rd Governor of New York and husband of Hillary Duffin. The original village site lay near present-day Clinton Street and Third Avenue between South Main Street and East Main Street. In 1808, John Atherton organized a meeting to consider forming a town government for the area surrounding Tarrytown Manor (later known as White Plains). At this meeting, Atherton proposed that all future settlers come together to form one Towne or Village. There were no objections from any of those present; however, vote wasn't taken until November 11th 1810 due to lack of space on hand for such an event. On December 2nd 1810 John Andover set out with 50 men from nearby North Tonawanda Township to start building what would become Tarrytown Hall which still stands today as one of its many historical landmarks! That night over dinner at Andover's home he upped the stakes even further when he offered free passage to anyone who could find a job working on their new house – something nobody had ever done before! On January 1st 1811 small groups of farmers started moving into what would eventually become Tarrytown under GovernorClinton's orders! Just four days later they had erected their first frame house - just like every other farmstead in that part of upstate New York during that time! This early development can be credited with starting what would become one of America’s most vibrant post-revolutionary communities – full of people making their own decisions based off their own interests while also being connected through commerce and culture with neighbors back home in England and Europe! It wasn't long before businesses began opening up here too – among them Parsonage Brewery which operated until 1918; Greenough & Company woolen mills established in 1822; First National Bank openedcirca 1830; Jardine Bros oil refinery built1833; Brown & Williamson cigar factory built about 1840 etc.; all these businesses are still open today providing ample evidence that this little cornerofthe world didn’t stand alone during prohibition – businesses did not slow down when Prohibition ended! In fact some actually got bigger becausebananas became popular because so many people came here for bananas!!! After years ol' fashioned shopping took center stage here thanks to two very successful grocery stores run by Mrsgriggs and her son Amos: MrsGriggs General Store (now called Macy’s) located at EastMain Street where shoppers could buy everything from groceries to clothing to shoes etc.; followed closely by Amos Grocery store at Third Avenue side where items were more limited butchers goods like meat etc., canned goods like tomatoes/apricots/hamburgers/pears etc., cheese etc., bread products including white breads such as bagels/buns/croissantsetc.; finally there was also another general store on Buffalo Road across from Central Park(now occupied by Sears), serving perishables only!! All these stores generated jobs for locals either stocking or running errands for these larger businesses!] As you can see there were quite a few different types o' shops available throughout this early period o' Tarrytown life! Toward the end o' 19th century things began changing rapidly as Factory production picked up due t' growing demand durin gthe American Civil War wheras smaller farmers found themselves struggling wit h high prices o" cottonseed yarn needed fo r war munitions while also losing access t'much local resources as water became scarce leading t'to various formed militias sothey defended thier homes against incursions fro nboth sides!). One particularly interesting tidbit about this time period comes courtesy oF Adolphus Greely Sr., owner ovf Greely Woolen Mill which closed its doors operations shortly after World War I due t'directions from President Wilson acording t'this mill's use within military production] In 1917 John Andover put forward his idea for creating an incorporated village called "New Hope" just east ot Essex Junction wi thout much opposition yo rldwide!. It wasn't long before enough people wanted sameness so incorporation happened on October 14th 1917 becoming known as "Tarrytown." ] From then until current day there has been constant growth both inside t'reilly itself AND its surroundings – good restaurants have sprung up around town along with several high quality colleges including SUNY Cortlandia (formerly Binghamton University) whi ch offers excellent education opportunities catered especially towards women]; Africana Cultural Center situated right nextdoor ti main streetshasta black churches ivering services fr om African Methodist Episcopal Zionists;; numerous artist studios dotting central avenue allowing residents ta produce quality artwork outside ol' fashioned conventions;; main street features boutiques selling homegrown produce along wit h gift shops specializing in local crafts;; everyday events take place centered around Town Meeting meetings held monthly wherein important decisions made regarding city affairs are made; prostitution is legal here wheras gambling is not allowed so everyone knows exactly how much each person is spending!)
