During the early 1900s, several new types of airguns were developed that became increasingly popular among shooters. These guns included bolt action rifles and shotguns that could be operated with the help of a manual cocking system or an electric cocking system. These systems allowed users to get better accuracy than traditional handguns by adjusting the distance between shots while keeping track of where each pellet went! In 1911, Suffern resident Wm J Armstrong designed his own type of airgun called the Armstrong Rifle Air Gun which featured an adjustable stock and scope attachment point on the barrel. This allowed users to get better results at short ranges than previous designs without having to purchase additional equipment or spend hours learning how to use it! Throughout most of the 20th century, Suffern residents continued to use airguns for target shooting, competition, and lawful purposes. Suffern is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 9,812 at the 2010 census. In 1814 the town was named Niskayuna after Nicholas Nicolaus Niskanen who had arrived in what is now Erie County from Sweden. The name may be derived from the Algonquian word "sûfn", meaning "a place full of deer". The first settler in Suffern was Nicholas Nicolaus Niskanen who arrived on October 20, 1792 from Sweden and claimed land near what is now Beaverdam Creek. He and his family were the first Europeans to live in what is now Erie County. There were others soon followed, including Peter Mills and his brother-in-law John Morse who built a gristmill on millspury creek which still stands today. In 1814, when Uniontown formed out of several towns within Erie County because of boundary changes caused by the Mexican–American War, Suffern became part of that new community. It remained an agricultural community until shortly before World War II when production shifted to manufacturing due to increased demand for rubber products in wartime Europe. After World War II, industry slowly disappeared as technology changed; Suffern's economy has been largely based on service trade since then with some small businesses remaining active into the 21st century. According to the 2010 census, there are 9,812 people living in Suffern Village (including 1 village editor), 4 hamlets within it: Beechwood 0%, Brookside 0%, Easton Heights 0%, Idlewild Heights 2% and Lochmahoning 3%. Of these hamlets only Idlewild Heights has a population over 100 residents while all other hamlets have populations below 50 residents

Suffern, New York is a small town in Upstate New York, located northeast of Syracuse. The population was 5,191 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Adirondack Park region. The first settlers to Suffern were Dutch farmers who arrived in 1637. In 1718, John Armstrong and his family built a farmstead on what is now Main Street. For many years, it was the only house in town and the only store. In 1815, Nicholas Bickford purchased land adjoining Armstrong's farm and began to build a log cabin named "Bickford's Cabin". He also laid out streets and platted a village around it. In 1824, he sold his holdings to Captain John Sweeny for $1,000 cash. Captain Sweeny did several things with the land: he built a mill on the river near present-day Elmira Road; he laid out roads; and he built two houses - one called "The White House" and another called "The Black House". The Black House still stands today as an historic building downtown Suffern. In 1830, Jno Purdy bought Captain Sweeny's land from him and began farming there himself. He laid out Widmer Avenue which runs through town today (now Elmira Road). In 1835-36, Purdy donated some of his property to form an alley between Main Street (the old alignment) and Widmer Avenue in memory of his wife Anna Wickham Purdy (née Woolridge). She had died unmarried during her lifetime after giving birth to their only child without anyiblings being able to join them in life or death--a unique event at that time among American women living alone fatherless children later became common enough that she has been honored by name recognition). As part of this donation, Purdy received about 0.5 miles² of improved soil along widmer avenue from which he derived much of its early growth potential for crops such as corn/maize/cotton etc., as well as for later development into what is now downtown Suffern including portions of current Broadway Drive (now Elmira Road), Second Avenue (now Elmira Boulevard), Third Avenue (now First Avenue), Fourth Avenue (now Prospect Ave.), Fifth Avenue (currently Broome Street), Sixth Ave., Seventh Ave., Eighth Ave., Ninth Ave., Tenth Ave., Eleventh Ave.—all within city limits—and much more extending eastward beyond those boundaries eventually becoming residential areas now known as Northside Village north of First avenue southwesterly past Eighth avenue currently known as Southside Village southwesterly past Ninth avenue eastward past Tenth avenue currently known as Eastside Village southeast corner currently know as Westside Village northwest corner all within city limits! This gift by Mr. Purdy remains one-of-a-kind in area where community spirit play an important role today having made many strides over time due largely to Mrs./Ms./Dr./ organizations like SUFFERN PARK DISTRICT et al.—many thanks go out to all involved!
Suffern was a village in the Town of Suffern, Montgomery County, New York, United States. The population was 1,011 at the 2010 census. It is now part of the town of Oneonta. The first settler in this area was Nicholas West in 1788. In 1814 Captain John White built a small log cabin on what is now Park Road south of present-day Suffern Elementary School. The following year he and his family began to grow maize and other crops there while also raising chickens and hogs on their farmstead. By 1825 Captain White had added astore to his farmstead and by 1830 he had constructed a frame house which served as his home until his death in 1836.
