As Spring Valley, New York began to prosper in the early 1800s, its entrepreneurs were busy building their businesses and expanding their reach. One of these entrepreneurs was Noah Webster who started a printing press in 1812. Webster's presses quickly became popular for creating textbooks and other educational materials. Additionally, he also founded the first continuously operated school in America – Seneca Falls School – in 1814. The townspeople of Spring Valley were also instrumental in developing many aspects of American society during this time period including education, business acumen, and political activism. They played an integral role in the development of the United States Constitution and fought for democracy throughout the Revolutionary War. Today, Spring Valley is home to a number of significant historical landmarks including Seneca Falls School (1814), TheWebster Press House (1812-1816), and The National Archives & Museum (1799). The history of Spring Valley, New York can be traced back to 1814. The first permanent settler in the area was Nicholas Lowditch, who purchased land from the Lenape people. In 1825, he and his family built a cabin on what is now known as Lowditch Lake. From this location, Lowditch began surveying the area for a land grant that would allow him to build a home and farmstead on the property. In 1829, he received a grant from President Andrew Jackson which allowed him to build a house and farmstead on what is now known as East Fourth Street. From this location, Lowditch surveyed the areas around Spring Valley while also farming the land. In 1840, he sold his farmstead and house to John Wardell.
Spring Valley is a town in the Town of Huntington, on Long Island. The population was 9,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York City borough of Queens. The name " Spring Valley" comes from two places: Springbrook and Springdale. Springbrook was where spring water came from and Springdale was where early European settlers lived and farmed. In 1795, General George Washington took possession of land that now includes most of what is today Spring Valley. He named it after petitioners who had petitioned him to give them lands in Huntingdon County in order to make way for new settlers on Long Island. The first permanent settler in Spring Valley was Nicholas Biddle, who arrived around 1798. He built a small cabin near present-day Main Street and called it "Biddlesburgh." Soon after, other pioneers started arriving, some asearly as 1800. Some families had children already when they left Europe; others were born hereabouts during the next few years as more and more people moved into the area. By 1802, there were about 30 families living inSpringvale proper and 20 scattered across itslying hamlets and villages including trustees townships like Westbury (now Sayville), East Hampton (today's Southold), Brookhaven (west end of Hempstead Shoreline), Farmingdale (Norwood Beach), Southampton Heights (now Islip Beach), East Meadow Village (Islip Beach)and Northampton Manor (north side of Park Avenue). In 1805 or 1806, James Ketcham bought some property adjoining present-day Cross Road from Nicholas Biddle and set up a farm there called Ketchamstown which he continued to run until his death in 1840s . Other early owners included Gideon Peake who owned land between Newtown Creek just south of Centerville Rd., extending all the way to SPRING VALLEY RD., now within Indian Head Hillsborough Community College boundaries; Isaac Backus whose large farm lying east/west along Main Street between NOW HUNTINGDON CREEK RD./CENTERLINE RD./SPRING VALLEY RD./WESTBURY HEIGHTS RD./Hempstead SHORELINE RR.; John Putnam who acquired 160 acres northeast cornerof SPRING VALLEY ROAD/NEXT HUNTINGDON CREEK RD./CENTERLINE ROAD opposite HEMPSTEAD SHORELINE RR.; Moses Browning also acquired substantial parcels northwesterly off CENTERSVILLE ROAD NW / WESTBURY HEIGHTS ROAD NW ; Jonas Salk developed a small parcel located near modern Middle School on CENTERVILLE ROAD NE; Abraham Lincoln leased 240 acres northwest cornerof SPRING VALLEY ROAD/NEXT HUNTINGDON CREEK RD./CENTERLINE ROAD opposite HEMPSTEAD SHORELINE RR.; Daniel Webster purchased 100 acres eastbound off CENTRAL AVE., current day CROSSroad intersection with Center Boulevard; these acquisitions markedSpringValley's definitive growth spurt following its incorporation as an unincorporated village by an act passed bythe New York State Legislature on April 14th ‘11’ After Union victory over Confederate forces at Appomattox Court House on April 9th 1865 , President Abraham Lincoln signed Executive Order No 5771 authorizing Ulysses S Grant to take possession of all Confederate property west of Richmond Indiana Territory line including SPRING VALLEY In 1907 local developer Archibald Cox bought 860 lots located just outside present-day Springside Village for $1 per lot On October 12th 1912 – only one year after Cox’s purchase – Springside became official name forSpringValley when US Senator Lewis Fenton offered resolution authorizing its establishment as such by resolution Of The United States Senate Today’s population totals over 10k residents making it one of Queens most populous towns . Spring Valley is a small town in upstate New York, located on the border of Fulton and Onondaga counties. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Syracuse metropolitan area. Spring Valley has been inhabited by humans since before the time of European settlement in this area, and there are evidence that it was one of the first places inAmerica to be settled by Europeans. The village was named for springs that flow near its location. The first permanent settler in Spring Valley was Nicholas Fallopian, who arrived around 1795. He built a cabin on a hill overlooking the village and named it Fallopian Manor after himself and his nephew Nicholas (the son of his brother-in-law). In 1807, John Crouse moved from Poughkeepsie and purchased some land east of Fallopian Manor for $2 per acre. This land became known as Crouse's Forest after him. In 1824, David Bache bought property northeast of Spring Valley from Nicholas Fallopian for $10 per acre. This land later became known as Bache's Field because it housed several mills used to produce flour for local markets. In 1829, George Armstrong Crouse founded what would become Armstrong Copper Mines on what is now North Main Street in Spring Valley proper. These mines were important early sources of income for the community and remain today as one of its most significant landmarks. Successful farming practices developed here during the 19th century which helped make Spring Valley an important center for agriculture throughout central New York State; these practices included using manure generated from livestock to fertilize crops; using waterpower to turn saltpeter into copper ore; and growing corn, beans, peas, wheat, barley, oilseed rape etc.; many people also worked at these plants directly or through their families’ businesses.[1] Despite all these successes however, World War II spelled trouble forSpringValley: Many residents lost their jobs due to wartime shortages; soldiers came through town looking for food but didn't stay long because they were short on money;[2] however many people did manage to keep their homes even though things had tough times going forward especially considering some local farmers did manage nearby larger operations while their neighbor's fields lay fallow [3],[4], eventually leading back into prosperity postwar years with increased job opportunities available until recently when prices have started increasing again following strong global demand curves
The Spring Valley area in New York was first settled by the Mohawk people in the early 17th century. The area became part of the Dutch colony of New Netherland in 1624 and was renamed Utica in 1627. In 1650, a group of English colonists arrived at Spring Valley and began to explore the region. They named the settlement after springs that they found near their base camp. The English population at Spring Valley grew rapidly due to its proximity to Albany and its valuable farmland. In 1664, the English crown decided to give up New Netherland and merged it with England as a new province, called Ulster. This event led to a large influx of Scots-Irish immigrants into Ulster from Ireland. The Irish began working on farms around Spring Valley while also engaging in trade with settlers from British America. By 1715, about 50% of the population of Ulster were Scottish-Irish Protestants. At this point, most residents of Spring Valley were Scotch-Irish Protestants who hadigrated there during or after World War I (1914-1918).
