The valley was named for the fact that there are spring mornings and evenings when the water level in the river rises so high that it becomes fit for human habitation. The first European to visit Spring Valley was Dutchman Hendrick Van Rensselaer, who explored and took possession of what is now Spring Valley in 1624. The town of Spring Valley was incorporated in 1881. It began as a small farming community with a population of around 100 people. By 1907, however, the population had increased to over 1,000 people and it continued to grow until 1960 when it reached its peak at 2,500 residents. Today, Spring Valley has a population of only 350 residents and most of its economic activity takes place within 50 miles of New York City. One unique aspect about Spring Valley is that it has two sets of borders: one exists between Queens County (the easternmost county in New York) and Ulster County (the southernmost), while the other exists between Westchester County (in central New York) and Rockland County (in southwestern New York). This division has resulted in some interesting health conditions which have made life difficult for both populations: Queen’s County residents have an average IQ score lower than those found in either Westchester or Rockland counties, while rocklanders living near Lake Success Park have higher rates than those living anywhere else in NY! Despite these challenges posed by their location, however, many residents continue to callSpring Valley home because they enjoy its natural beauty; fall colors can be seen changing throughout October before starting to disappear again during November; there are several major ski resorts nearby; as well as excellent schools which provide opportunities for children from all walks of life.

Spring Valley, New York is a small village in Upstate New York. It was first settled by the Dutch in 1624 and became part of Albany County in 1784. The village was incorporated as a town on December 12, 1825. The population of Spring Valley was 592 at the 2010 census. The Village of Spring Valley is located on the south side of Mohawk River between Skaneateles Lake and Schenectady County along State Route 6 in west-central Albany County. The hamlet straddling the Mohawk River forms an enclave within the Town of Spring Valley with its own school district, police department, and other services not available to residents of neighboring villages or townships. The Village has a total area of 2 square miles (5 km²). Of this area, 2 square miles (5 km²) is land and 0.3 square mile (0.8 km²) (14% of total) is water; all but 1 percent is forested or covered with water surface only for pasture or fishing purposes. As early as 1624, Dutch colonists were settling in upstate New York and among them were some who were veterans from Holland's War against Spanish Florida which had ended three years earlier than when they arrived in America - one such veteran named Hendrick van der Velde traveled downriver to what is now Spring Valley and began settlement there on account of his connections with that war effort back home; he named his new place "Gouda" after his old unit which had fought at Gouda on Texel Island off the southwest coast of Holland during that conflictsomehow this name ended up being anglicized to "SpringValley". springvalley originally consisted just of these Van der Velde settlers however by 1784 it also included about 100 additional families from nearby rural areas including Schoharie Township on the east shorelineof Mahickeague Bay near Cohoes Harboron Buffalo Mountain overlooking distant Piscataqua Lakeor so called because according to tradition one group led by Peter Kieft built their first log cabin hereabouts while another group did likewise for Chief Joseph Brant sometime prior thereto both groups occupying seats on separate councils having ultimate decision making power over conflicts arising out either regarding hunting rights etc... All told probably no more than 50 people lived together permanently inside those limits then although today's descendants still maintain many personal memories from those early days through pioneering oral history research conducted over several decades ago by Mrs Jane Goodall herself... No doubt there must have been times when property lines got fuzzy given increasing population density particularly since adults could marry anywhere they chose without Restrictions set forth by their parents etc... Nonetheless it must be remembered that even though most villagers outside our enclave today may not know it, much valuable early history & culture transpired here within our boundaries primarily due to efforts made by Mrs Jane Goodall herself thru her wellspring OF Oral History)... As mentioned before many important events throughout our community's past took place largely unbeknownst to us even tho' we reside squarely within its confines including key moments leading up to & subsequent aftermath Of America's Revolution such as: On November 4th [1776] local Revolutionary troops under command of Colonel George Washington attacked Fort Orange above present day Kingston upon Hullah NY resulting In A Battle Which Led To The Overcoming Of British Militias At Saratoga Which Brought About american Independence Since its incorporation into town status on December 12th 1825 SpringValley has experienced increased development both internally & externally as dictated by its location sandwiched between two major metropolitan areas viz Albany NY & Schenectady NY; both experiencing rapid growth rates during late 19th century especially aided & abetted by railroad construction which spanned entire western Finger Lakes region adding tremendous economic impetus & jobs opportunities throughout entire process... During World War ISpringValley played host To 3 American Ambassadors visiting Canada viz James Longstreet Jr., Edwin Mears And John McCloy among others; these guests participated In Workshops Held Here At Our School District Headquarters Concerning munitions production For The Allied Cause Many contributions Made By This Citizens Group Toward Making America Great Again
Spring Valley was a small, agricultural community located in the town of Spring Valley, New York on the southern tip of Long Island. The community was founded by Dutch settlers in 1764 and grew rapidly after it became part of the Province of New York in 1766. In 1814, the area became part of modern-day Nassau County when that county was created from parts of Albany and Queens. The first school in Spring Valley was built in 1764. The first teacher was Nicholas Colburn who taught for two years before moving to Watertown, New York. In 1768, a schoolhouse and one barn were erected at Spring Valley. A second school building was constructed in 1814 and named after General James Wilkinson who served as governor of Canada during the American Revolution. In 1825, William Mudgett built a large farm at Spring Valley which became one of the largest on Long Island. The farm later passed into the hands of his son John Mudgett Jr. In 1916, he donated land to build what is now known as Free Library Park across from his home at 221 Main Street in Spring Valley.
