Most people know Sleepy Hollow as the location of the Witching Hour, which is a local haunted house that has been open since 1881. The story of Sleepy Hollow began in 1792 when two brothers were driving through the area and saw a woman walking along the side of the road. They stopped to ask her what she was doing and she told them she was looking for her husband who had gone off to war. When they asked her where he was, she produced a knife and said that if they wanted to see him alive they would have to kill her first. The brothers took this opportunity to run away, but not before seeing the woman hobble away on crutches with her weapon at hand. The story goes on to say that every time someone drives by Sleepy Hollow they should stop and ask the woman where her husband is; if she tells them it's too dangerous, then chances are good that he's still alive and waiting for them. In 1881, Dreamland opened up in Sleepy Hollow and started hosting shows such as ghosthunting tours and carnivals. This led to more people going there, which in turn caused more hauntings. In 1925, Major John Seward purchased part of Happy Valley from Mrs. Sherman (the original owner) and started hosting sleepovers at his home during Halloween night so kids could experience all of the spooky things happening there without mom or dad knowing about it. This tradition continued until 1984 when everything went back under Mrs. Sherman's control again after Major Seward died suddenly without any children left behind to keep things running smoothly at home. It wasn't until 2002 when Holster Marketing bought Reverend Horton’s property from Mrs._Sherman (the last living owner) thatSleepy Hollow became official HOLSTER HALL OF FAME! Today we continue celebrating allthings holsters with events like our annual Hallowe'en party filled with games, candy bars, trick-or-treating, AND costumes?!
