Over time, Westcroft developed into one of the largest villages within present-day Sleepy Hollow – with an estimated population size between eighty-five hundred and one thousand individuals by 1800. In 1836, when sleepy hollow became an incorporated village under state law, many residents left for larger townships throughout Upstate New York because they found work opportunities more plentiful within Manhattan than outside thereof.still however however despite this exodus many residents still resided inside what is now known as “Sleepy Hollow” including some who would continue to live there until their death bed years later By 1850 however even though much had changed within “Sleepy Hallow” few people still resided there due largely to high taxes levied on properties located within that borders . Thereafter many new homes were built along Route 9 which ran through town primarily resulting in growth for both civilians residing therein as well as military personnel stationed nearby during times Of war Today much like then Sleeping Hookers seem contentedly unaware that peace has once again come to their sleepy little corner
