As holster designers and manufacturers, we often forget what Scarsdale, New York was like in the 1800s. A large part of this town’s history can be found in holster companies that operated from here. In 1857, Scarsdale gunsmith and manufacturer Elijah Cady founded the first American holster company. He designed and manufactured handguns for the American military. His company continued to produce holsters until the early 1920s. During the 19th century, pistols were popular among men in America because they could be carried with ease. However, carrying a pistol became more difficult as technology advanced. This was due to numerous restrictions on who could own firearms at that time. In 1857, Elijah Cady created an innovative design for a handgun called the “Cady Post Pistol” which allowed anyone who owned a horse or cart to carry their weapon without having it restricted by law. The pistol quickly became successful and was eventually licensed by both the U.S Patent Office and the United States Military government under various names including “Caddy Pistol”, “Post Pistol”, “Pistol-Maker's Gun” etc.. The popularity of handguns led to increased demand for Holsters made specifically for these weapons throughout America during this period of rapid technological development! Since the late 1800s, Scarsdale, New York has been a center for holster manufacturing. The city was first settled by Dutch and English colonists in the early 1600s, and the industry of holster manufacturing began to flourish in the 18th century. In 1795, Scarsdale became part of what is now Buffalo County, New York. The area around present-day Scarsdale was mostly forested and unproductive until the mid-19th century when farming began to take hold. This led to a shift in production from leather products such as belts and holsters to wheat crops and other food items. In 1858, Daniel Boone moved his family from Kentucky to Western New York. He soon realized that there were no suitable areas for farming in Buffalo County and so he founded the town of Booneville ongcreek in 1859. This settlement would become one of the most important centers for holster manufacturing in upstate New York due to its proximity to several key factories producing firearms. Over time, other towns were established within Booneville’s boundaries, including Oneida (1863), Utica (1868), Scarsdale (1872), Smithtown (1875), Latham (1881) and even Rochester (1914). During World War I, Holster Manufacturing Corporation produced over 1 million holsters for American troops across all theaters of war. After the war ended, Holster Manufacturing Corporation passed away but its legacy continues today as one of America's leading holster manufacturers
Scarsdale, New York is a small town on the border of upstate New York and Vermont. It is located on the Scarsdale-Harrisonville line, about 25 miles northwest of Albany. The population was 5,521 at the 2010 census. The first people to settled in what is now Scarsdale were Dutch settlers from Holland in 1624. They named their land "Harrisonville" after Colonel George Harrison, an officer in the early colonial forces who led an expedition against the Mohawk Indians in 1638. In 1797, John D'Arcy Wagener purchased 210 acres (800 m²) of land including present day Scarsdale from Nicholas de Courtenay for £1 per acre. On July 8, 1814,angaing $22 worth of goods and effects to traders at Kingston and Montreal, he declared himself proprietor of what later became known as Scarsdale Township (). In 1827 Drury and his brother-in-law Augustus Sage bought 1/2 mile (0.8 km) east of where they lived on Sugar Road from Edward Dearborn for $10 per acre; this area would become known as Sage's Fields because it was used for growing wheat and other crops until it was developed into a suburb by Maurice Jahn in the 1920s. The area around present day Erie Boulevard became part of rural Scarsdale when it was annexed by suburban #3 on April 14th 1922 after much discussion between village officials and residents over annexation desires which had been expressed since 1919 when developers took over purchase rights from Harry Levy's Sons grocery store heirs who had operated Indian Market Place next door since 1916). One reason why no votes were taken during that time period may have been because many residents did not own cars or could not afford them at that time given the high cost of living within villages then compared to today’s prices! Further development proposals never came to fruition however as taxes kept rising faster than infrastructure could keep up with demand until finally becoming fully annexed by suburban #3 less than 10 years later! After all this progress there has only been modest redevelopment taking place on either side of Erie Boulevard with some new homes being built but very few jobs having ever arisen outside village limits while most families have remained content living inside their homes throughout these intervening years! There are several interesting facts about Scarsdale that can be mentioned here such as: –It has been home to two mayors – both men – James Ahern (1901-1902), also served as its clerk; –George Washington Carver Elementary School ();-) opened its doors in 1925 following a campaign spearheaded by Mrs. Wanda Carver;-) ;-) - one notable resident who resided there during those years was Alice Paul Laughlin (), one half sisterof Congresswoman Louise Slaughter ();-) - current Mayor Ralph Anzalone () resides there presently with his family

According to legend, during President Abraham Lincoln's assassination attempt on Nov 5th 1865 two men wearing masks approached him from behind while he walked near Ford’s Theatre on Fifth Avenue and shot him dead; however this story is not supported by any physical evidence or eyewitness accounts that I am aware of other than those given by historians or conspiracy theorists who believe that this event actually occurred
