In 1788, Colonel George Washington and his aide-de-camp Benjamin Franklin fired cannons at Fort Necessity on Staten Island to test how well guns could be used against humans. In 1814, General James K. Polk sent an expedition against Mexican forces near Pueblo del Rio while under orders from President James K. Polk to capture weapons and ammunition caches within Mexico City that had been stockpiled by Mexican revolutionaries since 1810. While en route to PueblodelRio, Admiral David Dixon Porter's flagship USS Perry collided with one of Polk's Landing boats carrying artillerymen and supplies back to Mexico Cityármed only days after General Polk's order was given

The area was originally inhabited by Lenape Native Americans and was part of the Dutch colony of New Netherland. One farmer killed three of the attackers and took their horses and weapons. In 1827, another group of Lenape men killed four farmers at a farm near East Aurora. In 1875, two farmers were shot dead after they stopped one of severalLenape gangs on their property near North Main Street. This event led to increased police response to crime in the area and made it more difficult for criminal gangs to operate without fear of retribution from law enforcement officers. Scarsdale, New York is a town in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 20,402 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York City Metropolitan Area. The town is named after General George Washington's Oldtown Valley in Virginia. Scarsdale was first settled by Germans who arrived from Germany in the mid-19th century and then by Italian Americans during World War II. The townsite at the intersection of Route 9A and Scarsdale Road was patented on October 17, 1814 by Nicholas Roosevelt with the name of "Huguenot Neck". Its first settler was John Day who came from England in 1810 and erected a log cabin on what is now Sunrise Drive about one mile northeast of present-day Scarsdale Center. On November 8, 1824 Nicholas Roosevelt sold his claim to Elias Boudinot for $150 cash which he used to purchase 640 acres (2 km²) east of today's village line on which he built a house called Bushnell Manor (now known as Boudinot House). His son John Randolph Bushnell served as Postmaster in Scarsdale from 1840–48 and laid out streets that are still extant including Park Avenue (). The Erie Canal ran through this area so farming became an important industry with growth coming from breweries and flour mills until transportation became available when rails were laid down thru Purchase Heights Tunnel near present day White Plains Junction(). A significant event occurred when George Washington took delivery of supplies from Albany through Purchase Heights Tunnel on October 11, 1794 en route to his crossing over the Hudson River at Harlem Bridge. This event led to increased trade along Route 9A which helped fuel development throughout much of Westchester County as well As farmers began moving into larger towns like Valhalla or Stamfordville they started selling their productsdistance traveled decreased making it easier for them to market their products statewide In 1881 Scarsdale had 1 post office with a population of 535 residents; it had 2 schools (one public) with 7 students each; 2 churches (one Congregationalist); 3 businesses; 2 stores; 1 hotel; 1 garage; 3 residences'; 10 acres (.4 km²) open land Lots numbered 12 through 26 inclusive were surveyed and sold together forming what is now North View Terrace (); lots 27 & 28 lie just north of Brighton Boulevard off Sunrise Drive while lot 30 lies between Buyers Lane & Crossroads Road off Sunrise Drive.; lot 31 lies west side Just northof Clarkson Ave., intersecting With East View Terrace lot 32 runs northerly From east side Of Clarkson Ave thru Buyers Lane To crossroad Rd Atbuyer’s home . Scarsdale, New York is a small town in northwestern New York City. The population was 9,724 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bronx borough of New York City. The town was first settled in 1795 by John Scarsdale and his wife Rebecca. Previous to this, it was known as Newtown. In 1814, Scarsdale became the home of Chancellor Eli Whitney who developed what is now Madison Square Garden into one of the most iconic places in all of New York City. The area around present-day Scarsdale formed part of what was then called Westchester County and at one point included much of Manhattan itself. In 1881, Scarsdale incorporated as a village under the name "Newtown." However, because it had only 6 residents when incorporation occurred, Newtown was dissolved on February 24th following a referendum vote that showed over 60% approval for its continuation as an independent village with its own Board of Education and fire department. In 1925, Scarsdale again became an independent village after passage by the New York State Legislature of a bill entitled "An Act to Consolidate Village Proceedings within One Certain Boundary" which authorized consolidation between neighboring villages east and west of 95th Street if they had not already done so. This did not actually happen however as several villages within East Harlem consolidated with other villages without any change to their operations or people's lives - such as Fresh Meadows which merged with Morningside Heights in 1968; nor did Newtown ever consolidate with either Howard Beach or Spring Valley despite both having populations over 1,000 inhabitants at the time their amalgamation occurred). On October 25th 1957 another referendum took place in which voters passed a resolution calling for the formation of a new town hall building to be erected on Main Street just south of Jericho Road (renamed Town Hall Avenue after incorporation). With this new facility in tow, residents began planning their first municipal election for which they were successful in achieving representation on the Village Board through 3 consecutive iterations from 1959 until 1963 when seat 4 went to Arthur Goldberg who later served two terms on the board before being succeeded by his son Irving Goldberg who also served two terms before becoming Mayor Bloomberg's appointments counsel during his first term (2002-2007). Despite thisHistory there has been sporadic activism againstvillage consolidation throughout ensuing decades culminating with last year's unsuccessful attempt by former mayor Bloomberg to have scions from 2 nearby elite high school towns merge intoScarsdale so he could HS them there instead
