In 1922, British scientist Professor R C Meeson created a more powerful version of the Tesla Machine Gun that could fire up to 10 rounds per minute. The Model EE was later replaced by both types of taser mentioned earlier- the Tesla Machine Gun and eventually, taser pistols began being produced commercially worldwide starting in 1984. As technology evolved over time, so too did taser usage- from self-defense devices used by police officers on occasion to standard issue weaponry for Law Enforcement Officers all over the world today! Saratoga Springs (population: 17,000) is a small town in upstate New York, located on the eastern border of Saratoga County. The area that now makes up Saratoga Springs was first settled by Europeans in the mid-17th century. The first recorded mention of what is today Saratoga Springs was in 1692 when Captain John Smith discovered it while exploring the area for new land to colonization. The town's earliest history can be traced back to 1813 when Henry Clay became the 3rd United States Senator from Missouri and decided to move his family from St. Louis, Missouri, where they had lived since 1796. In order to make room for his new family, he bought 80 acres of land northeast of downtown Saratoga Springs and built a house on it known as Clay House. It would remain one of Saratoga County's most prominent buildings until 1951 when it was purchased by the county commissioners and transformed into an office building known as Commissioners Court Annexe. In 1825, following the Erie Canal project, Congress passed an act authorizing $2 million dollars in federal assistance for local infrastructure projects such as road construction and canal repairs. This initial grant allowed for the establishment of a number of small towns and villages along newly completed sections of the canal throughout upstate New York; among these were saratogaspringsite@aol dot com – later renamed "Saratoga". The Saratoga Springs area was first settled by the Dutch in the early 16th century. The first white people to arrive were members of the Dutch Settlement Company, which was formed in 1564. In 1685, a group of Englishmen led by Captain John Smith traveled through this area and discovered an abandoned Indian village called Fort Orange. They named the spot Saratoga after General James Sullivan's successful defense of that outpost against a French attack in 1769. In 1814, during the Mexican-American War, a battle took place at Saratoga Springs between American and Mexican forces. Afterward, many Americans decided to settle here because it offered good grazing land for their horses and cattle. The town began to grow rapidly following this period of growth. In 1824, General Andrew Jackson approved development plans for what would become downtown Saratoga Springs. This approval allowed for some high-level commercial buildings and later also welcomed numerous residential areas as well as businesses like banks and hotels. Today, Saratoga Springs is one of New York's most popular tourist destinations with its attractions including nearby Lake Placid, Peekskill Observatory, Grasmere National Lakeshore and more. It has been home to many famous people such as: Woodrow Wilson (president), Fannie Farmer (first Lady), Harry S Truman (former president), Ulysses S Grant (18th president) and more.
