Saratoga Springs, New York is a town in upstate New York on the eastern border of Saratoga County. Situated adjacent to the Finger Lakes region, it was founded in 1797 by colonists who arrived from Connecticut. The population was 9,876 at the 2010 census. It is an agricultural and commercial center with a temperate climate and diverse landscape of rolling hills and valleys. Gun barrels were first manufactured in Saratoga Springs by Drury & Company circa 1830-1840. At that time rifles were still made with smoothbore barrels which required handloading to fire accurately. After 1841 guns became breech loading (a process where rounds are fed into the barrel at right angles to its axis) and this began the production of firearms which would be used for hunting as well as civilian use. In 1872 rifle manufacturing was merged with shotgun manufacture by John Waddell & Sons to form Waddell Firearms Manufacturing company, now part of Smith & Wesson corporation. Saratoga Springs, New York, is a small town located in upstate New York. The population was 2,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Saratoga County borough of Saratoga Springs. The first European to visit Saratoga Springs was Captain John Smith on July 5th, 1609. He and his party explored the area that now includes Saratoga Park and discovered the falls of the Oswego River. The presentation of this valuable discovery by English explorer in front of Governor George Washington increased interest in this area for goods transportation as well as military purposes; it also made it an important site for military encampments during the American Revolutionary War because its location placed it very close to major battlefields such as Roundabout Mountain and West Point. In 1785, Colonel Jameson purchased land from Peter Schuyler which included what is now Main Street and Broadway Avenue. The first home built here was called "Fenway House." Colonel Jameson died in 1802 and his son-in-law bought the home from him and named it "Saratoga Hall." In 1827, Major General Philip Schuyler donated 25 acres (11 km2) east of Main Street to be used for a public school district that would become known as Albany High School District No. 1. On February 6th, 1847, by act of legislature No. 188 under then State Superintendent David Silliman (1801-1868), all schools within the newly created Saratogasburgh School District were merged into Albany High School District No. 1 so that there would be one school district with jurisdiction over both townships - an arrangement that continues to this day! The post office at Main Street & Broadway Ave., which opened on October 26th, 1848 became operational again between February 6th & April 15th each year until closing on September 30th 1969 due to lack of mail volume; however, Postmaster General Harry Haldeman reactivated service on October 14th 1969! On May 9th 1929Main St./Broadway Ave., became part of new Town Green Historic District when it was listed together with other buildings on First National Bank lot along US 11A between Fifth Ave./ Sixth Ave./ Eighth Ave.; old Post Office building still standing today! On July 8nd 1922 a fire destroyed much business property including two hotels adjacent to Main st/broadway AVE; however most importantly without any loss or injury occurred! This event helped spur development around Main St/broadway AVE over time including: Hotel Lafayette (now Marriott), Empire State Plaza (formerly Sears Tower), revived Metropolitan Life Insurance Building #1 later becoming One World Trade Center before finally being torn down in 2001!!! As mentioned earlier main street went through many changes throughout its history some examples include: -In 1928 main street became Waverly Place after large amounts were contributed by Mrs J Addison Waverly who ran a ladies' auxiliary store fronting Waverly Place Road until her death in 1922; she had previously given $50000 toward construction of downtown's first water tower -1933 mainstreet becomes Clinton Road after Driscoll's Drug Store closes down across from current Starbucks location near park meetinghouse; original store building still standing today next door to future Applebee's restaurant (& former Dairy Queen). The only significant change since then has been annexation by neighboring town Schenectady Township making Sarataga Springs completely surrounding municipality though not having city or town services available like police or fire protection etc... However there are plans underway for sarataga springs city status as per 2017 zoning proposal submitted to village board

In 1785, George Washington and his forces moved from Mount Vernon to Saratoga Springs after routing a British force at Yorktown. The town of Saratoga was founded in 1800 and grew rapidly until 1814 when it was destroyed by a fire. After being rebuilt, Saratoga Springs became an important military base during the American Revolution. During the 19th century, the town experienced rapid growth as a result of its strategic location on the Hudson River between New York City and Albany. However, Saratoga Springs eventually lost its status as an important commercial center after several internal conflicts developed within the community. Beginning in the 20th century, however, Saratoga Springs began to experience again significant growth as a tourist destination due to its many historical attractions and unique features.
