There has been a long and eclectic history of firearm t-shirts. From NRA members and hunters to everyday people, there is something for everyone to enjoy on the racks of clothing stores. The oldest known option for purchasing a shirt with a firearm on it was in 1868, when The Graphic Newspaper published an advertisement for "A Shirt expressing An Affection With Firearms." NRA member shirts continued to be printed until 1990 when they were discontinued due to low demand. The modern era of firearm t-shirts began in the early 2000s with online retailers like Field & Stream beginning to sell items featuring firearms prominently. These shirts typically featured images or text related to shooting sports or hunting, with some being more generalized than others. There was also an increased focus on safety after shootings such as Columbine High School in 1999 which left 20 students and six educators dead. This led to nationwide interest in selling t-shirts commemorating these tragedies with messages such as “Never again” or “We are one Nation Under Siege”. Many commercially successful businesses have arisen from this trend; such as clothing company Patriot Prayer that sells NRA caps and bumper stickers along with patriotic designs inspired by American flags. However, there has also been some criticism levied against these enterprises for promoting violence instead of education or social responsibility. Particularly during heated debates around gun control policies, many consumers may choose not purchase products bearing any mention of firearms given the potential controversy it could create surrounding them.

After years of growth (due to waves of immigrants), commercial development stopped around 1960 due to declines in manufacturing jobs throughout most western New England while new high tech companies sprang up elsewhere in North America. The last store closed its doors in 1984; however, nostalgia for old-fashioned capitalism has kept many small businesses open until this day including a number restaurants which offer samples from various food items served before 1984 that are still available today

The town was founded by farmers from Niagara County in 1817, and became a borough in 1824. In 1888 it became an incorporated city.
