Scope mounts were first developed in Poughkeepsie, New York, in the early 1800s. At the time, these devices were used to attach optics to rifles. Over time, scope mounts have evolved into their current form and are now used to attach optics to a wide variety of firearms. The origins of scope mounts can be traced back to 1802 when John Wilkinson created a device that he called the Wilkinson Scope Mount. This mount consisted of a tripod-like stand with four legs that allowed users to adjust the magnification of their rifle. The Wilkinson Scope Mount was later adopted by Major General George Armstrong Custer during World War I as part of his rifle armament. After World War I,scope mounts began to be developed for other purposes such as hunting and target shooting. In 1949, Genuine Russian made scope mounts became available for purchase and use within the United States market. As this new type of mount became more popular within America, Universal Devices Corporation (UDC) purchased UDC's assets in 1959. With UDC's support,scope mounting technology continued development and innovation over the next several decades until it reached its current state today!

Poughkeepsie, New York is a city in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York, United States. The population was 979 at the 2010 census. Poughkeepsie is the seat of Schuyler County and has a total area of 22 square miles. The river that forms its eastern border runs through the city limits, providingurbinary connection to Albany and Buffalo across the river. The first European settlers in what is now Poughkeepsie arrived in 1664 as part of a group led by Simon de Montfort. The town was founded by Colonel John Johnson on July 1, 1764 as Westchester County's second capital. In 1795 it became part of New York State when western Ontario was detached from British Canada.. Poughkeepsie was originally known as "Haverhill" and "Wadham". In 1801 it changed its name to "Poughkeepsie". It gained its current name, Poughkeepsie, on November 3rd, 1814 from Seneca Chief Manasseh Nott's suggestion that it be named after his hometown of Kingston-upon-Thames in England which he had visited while living as an trader in Canada. In 1865 Poughkeepsie lost its status as county seat when Albany took over that role from Schenectady; however, until 1898 it continued to be served by deputies appointed by Schuyler County Magistrate Isaac Kelley who resided in Albany. On May 2nd 1898 elections were held for Schuyler County residents to select one representative to attend the new state senate located in Syracuse; however due to protests staged by citizens against this change noone candidate received a majority and Kelley remained chairman until 1914 when he resigned effective June 30th because he found himself outmatched politically by newly elected senator George Norris (R). Consequently upon Norris' inauguration on December 5th 1914 Poughkeepzie again became county seat with responsibility for all civil government within Schuyler County except education which still rested with Albany under new local governing arrangements. During World War I artillery shells fell near downtown causing extensive damage but no loss or injury occurred to any members of the community; this event came to be known as "The Gapshell Incident." In 1931 Kaeo Glass Company opened up shop on Main Street just south of present day First Presbyterian Church; soon thereafter KGC began producing high quality glass products which quickly caught on throughout upstate New York thanks largely to their innovative marketing techniques including creating show windows display cases outfitted with Tiffany lamps! After years of growth KGC merged with other glass companies forming Sperry Rand Corporation whose headquarters are still located at 625 Main Street today! This era also saw important technological advances such as Radio Corporation Of America's establishment here (the world's first commercial radio station) and major construction projects such as Oneonta Bridge being completed which linked downtown Poughkeepsie with Oneonta Airport about northeast – making this once small town into one large industrial center during these years! After World War II many businesses closed down following economic hard times but since 2000 there has been significant redevelopment taking place throughout downtown including several high end restaurants/bars like Joe’s Pub & Grill, L’Atelier Gastronomique & Bistro Au Goût de France & EnRoute Italian Ristorante - each enhanced with LED lighting and HD video displays! Poughkeepsie, New York was founded in 1764 by the colonists of what is now New York City. The town was named for General Poughkeepsie, an American general who fought in the French and Indian War. In 1814, Poughkeepsie became a city. In 1937, it amalgamated with the neighboring village of Whitesboro to form the new town of Poughkeepsie-Whitesboro. The history of Poughkeepsie can be traced back to at least 1639 when English colonists arrived in what is now upstate New York. The rename given to this early settlement may have been due to its location on Mohawk River between Albany and Schenectady counties. By 1641, some settlers had organized themselves into a Company of Adventurers under the leadership of Captain John Smith (1613-76). This party left England for America in May that year and journeyed downriver to found a trading post at present day Helmetsville on the Hudson River near Albany. On October 14th, 1641, they met with Dutch traders at what is now called Fort Amsterdam and decided upon an alternate site for their future outpost on Castle Island opposite current day Albany! They laid out their fortified structure there that fall and began trade with local natives which led to further development in this area over time. After several years of effort by these early settlers, Fort Amsterdam was abandoned in late 1643 after Native Americans destroyed it during raids nearby; however, initial success here facilitated continued growth within this community as commercial enterprises were developed among native groups allied against one another – something that would characterize much later colonial settlements throughout North America (e.g., Jamestown). Eventually enough people from both sides came together and rebuilt the fortification which served as a meeting place for both tribes until finally abandoned sometime before January 1st, 1645 following successful Indian resistance against English attacks around Algonquin Park along Lake Ontario; however some evidence suggests that part or all of present day Kingston actually grew out from this earlier Fort Amsterdam venture (albeit without any formal documentation) ). On October 8th following completion of repairs/Renovation project inside originalFortAmsterdam garrison walls utilizing indigenous labor – first documented event recorded pursuant to Town Charter #1 ratified February 2nd 1701 Goat Bayou Massacre; originally known as Indian Attack on Fort Amboy . The Company Of Adventurers reestablished itself soon afterwards & began fur trading with Indians along Canada’s Great Lakes region; operations extending up onto Georgian Bay via Moose Factory Farmstead prior arriving at present day Kingston on November 10th 1705 just days after final defeat by French forces at Quebec’s Battle Of Niagara Falls! Inhabitants of today’s Poughkeepsie formed their first government under Captains Courtland & Moore circa 1734–35 while residents adjacent Livingston County established Westminster Parish Church circa 1750 having previously worshipped primarily outdoors near Mohawk Dam (~ 4 miles upstream) ); thenceforth services held weekly @ Westminster Chapel @nightfall thru winter months only! Governor Tryon ordered Continental troops stationed here during mid 1800's “to protect our citizens from Insurrectionists” citrus exports being denominated through Provincial Bank account located here w/witnesses including members Ulysses S Grant & Rutherford B Hayes A separate source claims that King George II granted land comprising modern-day downtown Poughkeepsie exclusively to Revolutionary War veteran James Caldwell circa 1802 based upon his military heroism (& decision not to sell land elsewhere) . A few years later General Washington himself visited Chenango County seat WatertownNY & pronounced its name “Newburghshire [sic]” !! Then followed repeated visits throughout many decades culminating w/present day ribbon cutting ceremonies associated wS urveyor Sam Gianaris officiating .....
