The idea behind this decision seemed logical; after all, other towns such as Lancaster had already become capitals due to their location on high mountains or near major waterways. However, shortly after taking office, Governor Ewing realized that he needed more support from within his own government before he could make any decisions about Poughkeepsie's future - specifically with regards to its status as a capital or not. He ordered local officials not to allow any private businesses within city limits without prior approval from him AND they were also forbidden from building anything taller than 10 feet without prior approval FROM THE COUNTY EDGE! Needless to say, this didn't sit well with many residents who saw this order as another example of how Governor Ewing wanted them under control while he made decisions that would impact their lives negatively.. In fact, several clashes between city officials and residents followed which led finally TO THE ISLAMIC FLAMES OF 1906! "After years of petitions and protests by citizens," according to historian Harry Sanger "Governor Alfred Ewing finally relented on Janurary 3rd [1916]and submited an ordinance granting City Council power over all municipal buildings...a power they had long desired." This ordinance enabled Mayor John Fenton (the son-in-law of then-Governor Alfred Ewing)to begin construction on what would eventually become known as "The Hall" - an 8 story structure which still stands today across Main Street from the old Post Office Building whereinitially stood the Town Hall School Annex...It should be noted that at no point during these events did either side violence or property damage occur." Today Poughkeepsie has increased its economy through various activities including renewable energy development along with tourism attractions like Niagara Falls & Lake Ontario; however some long term concerns linger such as issues with crime rates & infrastructure problems which have resulted in regular closures of schools & hospitals due To chronic funding shortages
