After decades as a sleepy agricultural community filled with small farms and ranches surrounding rural villages that supported only a few hundred people until almost all residents moved out around 1960 or so due to suburbanization especially after Interstate 95 bypassed town (a major factor being lack thereof access), density increased rapidly thanks to newly built expressways (I-95/I-87) coming through town followed by deregulation which led to increase traffic leading to job growth especially since truckers could now move without having their cargo seized by customs agents which used to happen regularly prior thereto
