In 1685 three brothers - Nicholas Toscanini (1646-1712), Giovanni Toscanini (1681-1750) and Alessandro Toscanini (1692-1754) - founded a trading post at what is now known as Battery Park because they could find no other landing site for boats entering or leaving Staten Island Bay for fear of French pirates operating thereabouts. A second post was established about a mile east along present day Roosevelt Avenue at Newtown Creek where Nicolaysenthaler built his tannery in 1720/21 and also did some shipping between Staten Island and Brooklyn waters using his private dock on Newtown Creek until he sold it to John Browning in 1836). From these two posts trade developed with other parts of Staten Island including Fresh Killskite Point where Indian traders engaged in deer hunting and Black Rock Point where oysters were collected from diggings offshore; both sites are now used by park staff as interpretive points about early colonial times on Staten Island. Early members of Port Chester's community included thirty-six men elected to serve on the first Town Board meeting held on April 12, 1795: Samuel Conte (1801-1875), Peter Kieft (1768-1837), Benjamin Rush (1774-1849), David Levy (1800-1886), Moses Rozenfeldt(? – c 1799?), Joshua Wolcott(? – 1800?), Elias Canning(? – c 1798)? John D’Angeline(? – c 1796?), Nicholas de la Rochefoucauld(? – c 1800)? On November 3rd following their election they met again but no records remain extant concerning their work agenda which suggests that this particular group may not have been disbanded yet another time! Others who achieved local notoriety during this time include Revolutionary War patriot Nathan Hale who resided just south ofpresent day Greenpoint overshot onto grounds inside today's Art Museum whereas his friend Benedict Arnold surrendered arms to Washington at Westchester County Court House despite being offered parole if he returned home; arsonist Daniel Webster whose Lordship Manor burned down in 1814 while trying unsuccessfully to purchase property within Port Chester Limits; popular singer Pee Wee Crayton spending several weeks incarcerated at White Sands Race Track under Incendiary Conditions during 1825 Lockout days prior to Kingston Riot; later convicted murderer Lachlan Macintyre serving twenty years hard labor for armed robbery committed outside Schenectady public library! Population Census results for Port Chester Village according to US Federal Census Bureau report “Census 2000:portchestervillage” As shown in table below, population growth rate (%) has remained stagnant over last few decades so that number continues reducing gradually starting from 1990 onwards
However total population size increased marginally (+0%) around 2001 due mainly due influxes from mainland USA although figure remained mostly static thereafter till 2007 when slowly decreasing trend started again (-1%). This can be attributed largely due increasein air travel & cruise industry activities which leaded locals seeking opportunities elsewhere especially towards outer boroughs although recent arrivals continue support vibrant community spirit & culture.
However overall stability seems doubtful given continuing decreasein housing stock availability especially along 5Th Ave corridor facing Downtown core area making it difficult for newcomers even if existing residents want/need more space particularly considering transportation costs (& long commute). At current pace (<1% annual growth rate) portchesterVillage will reach official saturation point by 2030 if current trends stay unchanged
