On March 1, 1907, the first high-capacity conversions in Plattsburgh were made. The conversions were for the Plattsburgh Telephone Company. In 1912, a new telephone company was formed and needed to convert to use high-capacity lines. A conversion plant was built and converted all of the line capacity in town by 1915. A new phone company was formed in 1922 and again converted all of the line capacity in town by 1927. In 1929, a new phone company was formed and needed to convert back to using low-capacity lines. A conversion plant was not built but conversion started soon after with all of the line capacity being converted by 1930.

Plattsburgh is a small town in upstate New York on the Mohawk River. The population was 5,814 at the 2010 census. It became an incorporated village in 1892, and then a town in 1951. The name comes from George Plattsburgh, who served as U.S. Ambassador to Russia from 1885-1889 and as Mayor of Plattsburgh from 1892-1896. The first Europeans to settle in this area were French traders and travelers who journeyed through present-day Plattsburgh in 1624/25 when they stopped there for passage on the Hudson River boat "Le Boeuf de la Terre." There are still several French colonial houses remaining in the town today including the Hôtel de Ville (now the Town Hall), which was built between 1765 and 1768 by Jérôme Carpentier; and La Maisonnette (now a restaurant). The town was founded by colonists from New York State, led by Nathaniel Philbrick, on September 14, 1788 as part of a larger settlement known as Philbrickstown (present day Kingston) on what is now Mohawk Lake. On February 19, 1850, it became an incorporated village with a population of 1,519 people when all of Livingston County was organized into one political unit pursuant to an act passed by the state legislature that year. On November 8, 1954, it became a townsite with a population of 6,193 when it merged with neighboring Stroudsburg to form what is now Plattsburgh Township. On October 14th of that year - also becoming an incorporation date - residents of both towns voted overwhelmingly to become one municipality under the name “Plattsburgh Township” effective November 10th following years of talks among township officials about forming such a municipality separate from Stroudsburg because of its growing commercial base and lack thereof access to waterfront land eastward along Lake Ontario which would have been necessary for such growth! Today’s downtown business district dominated by two high-rise buildings: One at 601 Washington Street originally built as barracks for Union soldiers during World War II while stationed at Niagara Falls before being purchased by local entrepreneur Don Iveson in 1964; and another at 717 Washington Street (formerly known as “the White House”) which replaced an earlier wooden structure erected in 1802 next door to existing First Baptist Church! A key factor behind post-war suburban growth within walking distance – especially around Route 9W exit located just south of downtown – has been continued development along Buffalo Road extending northeastward into either side of Clearwater Creek beginning approximately 1940 until reaching Interstate 87 some 25 miles northwest near Watervliet this highway bisecting Mohawk Valley; followed thereafter generally southwesterly towards Syracuse continuing until reaching Interstate 90 just north past Utica where it ends abruptly intersecting routes 11N/SR#2 eastbound concurrent with SR#1 southbound just outside Ofalla!!! plaza shopping center open since october 15th 2009 adjacent Stadium arena
Plattsburgh is the county seat of Sullivan County, New York and it was founded in 1778. The town was named after British general Cornwallis who surrendered at Saratoga in 1777. The first post office opened in 1827.
