In recent years, however, Plattsburg has seen greater development than ever before: new businesses have opened up around downtown; new housing has been built near Interstate 90/ NY 309 interchange; and plazas have been developed near both Amtrak stations—in addition to numerous restaurants and retailers scattered throughout downtown.

Plattsburgh is a town in western New York, United States. The population was 7,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Buffalo–Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Erie-New York metropolitan area. The first settlers in what is now Plattsburgh were Dutch farmers who arrived in 1624 from Amherst, Massachusetts. They named their new settlement "Peltsburgh" after the English town of Plymouth in England where they had been settled earlier that year. The first Presbyterian church in what is now Plattsburgh was built on Main Street in 1769. In 1815, when Canada became a country, the town's residents voted to become part of Canada and renamed it "Plattsburgh." The town began developing as an agricultural community during the late 19th century. In 1872, Plattsburgh voters passed a resolution designating County Road 12 as State Road 527 to facilitate trade with Canadá and other parts of North America. This road served as a main artery for goods moving into and out of New York City during this time period. In 1902, Plattsburgh voters passed a resolution creating their own school district within the newly formed Buffalo-Niagara Falls School District #2 which included all of Niagara County except for Plattsburgh itself. The official name for this school district until 1937 was "Buffalo-Niagara Falls School District No 2". In 1937, due to changes in school districts structure within New York state, the Buffalo-Niagara Falls School District #2 name was changed back to "Plattsburgh Township High School District" again reflecting its original geographic boundaries including all of Niagara County save for Plattsburg itself which still belonged to Buffalo-Niagara Falls School District No 2. During World War II, many businesses located within or near what are now platted areas such as Fishkill Park attracted enlisted men and women who worked on farms or local manufacturing plants throughout Upstate New York while also providing services such as intelligence gathering, propaganda production and other support activities overseas under military occupation (elements called Manhattan Project). Many residents who lived close by conducted domestic operations either through their homes or small businesses located on farmland adjacent to battlefronts or naval Naval Air Station Kingsville where troops were quartered while training for war; soldiers often left behind items like clothes hookups used by female housewives related to laundry service rendered from fields adjacent to Naval Air Station Kingsville during wartime years between 1944 and 1945 These "'little houses'" continue into present day with families clustering around large kitchens/bathrooms attached directly outside bedrooms using basic plumbing fixtures available at most locations; these dwellings are known locally as 'Battlefield Houses'. Battlefields can be found scattered throughout central upstate NY today including Plattenburg but there are few if any remaining examples dating back prior to 1947 On November 8th 1922 votes were cast ballots at Municipal Building #1 giving approval for creation of Village merged with Town forming Village government incorporating: 6 Men - James Smeaton (Chairman), John Sheahan (Vice Chairman), Wm Browning (Treasurer), Charles Hickey (Supervisor) Rev J F Lynch did not attend meeting however his nomination paper read: “This village forms one body politic with power vested therein exclusively by vote” . On December 10th 1922Village Meeting discussed issue surrounding Trusteeship Voting continued without Rev Lynch Present & He should have been notified that action would be taken against him If he does not attend future meetings
The town of Plattsburgh was founded in 1790 and was located on the southern shore of Lake George. In 1825, the town was annexed by Syracuse and became a part of that city. In 1898, it became a part of New York City.
