As part of this story line are notable examples such as: The first public school opened in 1814; The Erie Canal was completed here in 1825; The construction of factories including Singer Sewing machines company (now Unilever) started here in 1907; One hundred years later -yet another major employer arrived when IBM moved their research lab from Schenectady to Pekskill starting in 1958; And finally more recent arrivals like Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s family who purchased land adjacent to town limits for $2 million back in 2004). Overall I believe that this resurgence has helped create an environment that is conducive not just for businesses but also individuals who commute into town each day seeking opportunities & culture beyond those found closer away such as Buffalo or Syracuse - two other key communities located about 25 miles north east across Lake Ontario from Pekskitown proper on Mohawk Road/Route 9A where I live & raise my kids 😊
