Ammunition history in Peekskill, New York began with the first shot fired at what is now Yankee Stadium on April 12, 1875. The event that started it all was the Battle of Saratoga where General George Washington's forces fought against British forces. During this battle, a band of riflemen from Battery D of the 1st Regiment New York Volunteers (later renamed the 9th Regiment) fired ∼60 rounds per minute at anenemy line for three hours straight without interruption. This type of gunfire called " volleys" was later developed into machine guns and artillery fire by instructors at West Point. In 1898, when Buffalo Soldiers were fighting in Cuba, one regiment happened to possess a large supply of ammunition that they had acquired during their march across the U.S.-Mexico border. Colonel John Sanger ordered his men to stop using their rifles and load up on ammunition and grenades as they made their way through Mexico City's streets to join up with other American units near San Miguel de Allende. After landing at Key West, Florida on December 20, 1898 reinforcements arrived including 2nd Battalion 26th Infantry Regiment Ammo Cache Company commanded by Captain John Waddell which had been sent overland from Fort Worth via Brownsville Texas after being disbanded there following the Battle of Palo Alto on November 25th: That same year also saw America enter World War I with entry into Europe starting on April 6th with Serbia declares war against Austria-Hungary; Austria-Hungary responds by declaring war against Serbia; Bulgaria enters into relations with Germany; Romania secedes from Hungary in 1916 under pressure from Transylvania Germanophile elements within its government; Romania begins military operations as part of allies Austro-Hungarian Empire versus Serbian National Army led by Field Marshal Petru Ceausescu who becomes president upon succession of King Ferdinand I in 1917 after Russia defaults on loans owed to her empire; Royal Artillery Regiments were reorganized and increased in strength while Ammunition Cache Companies became field artillery batteries (Battery A becoming 3rd Battalion 349th Artillery Group). By 1918 Ammo Cache Companies numbered 350 companies in all service branches along with Munitions Storage Barracks for Corps Commander Headquarters staff located adjacent to Armory Park just east side First Avenue between Saratoga Road and Third Street making Peekskill one of largest arsenals outside Great Britain or North America during those years. As mentioned earlier World War I ended with Armistice Treaty signed near Trianon Palace compromise resulting in Austria nominally ceding Alpine regions northward while gaining certain rights elsewhere including control over Danube River region previously part of Hungary proper which became Romanian speaking Bukovina region today known as Moldova etc.; meaning Ammunition cache companies remained active both domestically and abroad until shortly before World War II when production shifted overseas again reducing numbers significantly although some remain garrisoned today inside United States mainland armed forces like Marine Corps Recruit Depot Quantico Virginia Beach Maryland
