Patchogue, New York is a small town located in the heart of the Finger Lakes region. The population was 1,695 at the 2000 census. The first target holders were probably descendants of Dutch settlers who arrived in the area in the early 17th century. By 1821, there were six firms operating as shooting galleries and one speciality store which sold artillery ammunition. A large sawmill and gristmill near where modern-day Main Street meets Interstate 90 produced lumber for target holders until about 1915 when it stopped production due to World War I. Prior to that, target holders worked at various mills around town including Atherton (now part of Syracuse), Black Rock (now part of Rochester), Canandaigua and Batavia (now Auburn). In 1875, two Englishmen named Bundy founded a company that became known as Bundy’s Shooting Gallery & Ammunition Company which continued to produce targets until 1940 when it merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company. In 1949, Townsend Manufacturing Co., successor to Bundy’s company closed its doors after many years of production; however,target holders still use Townsend targets today. In 1951, Everson Guns Manufacturing Corporation was organized with a goal of satisfying demand for riflesUniquely designed by George Everson each rifle came complete with an adjustable stock suitable for all typesof weather conditionsEverson had been manufacturing rifle parts since 1889 from his Belleville factory In 1954 he moved his plant from Belleville eastward into what is now Patchogue Village and began producing rifles under his own name handguns also became available Here we have Today's Shooter's Digest! In 1959 both Townsville Gunnery School and Townville Sporting Goods Company closed their doors adjacent to each other on Hope Road --- finally ending over 50 years of continuous production by industry leaders! A few months later PSEG established itself as an importer/manufacturer/sellerof firearms products here starting off mainly sporting goods but soon expanding into ammo too

The Patchogue Rifle Shooting Club was formed in 1892. In 1916, the club became the Patchogue Gunnery and Marksmanship Association. In 1945, the club merged with the New York Rifle and Pistol Club to become the Patchogue Rifleshooting Club.

It is bordered by the towns of East Hampton to the north and Westhampton Beach to the south. Patchogue is one of Long Island's oldest settlements and has been inhabited since ancient times. The first Europeans to arrive were Dutch settlers in 1624. In 1764, General Robert Howe moved his headquarters from Kingston to Patchogue after he won an important battle there against the British army under Cornwallis. The town was incorporated as a village on April 12, 1795. It became a borough on March 14, 1827. On July 1, 2017, it merged with neighboring Montville Township into Patchogue-Montville Borough. Patchogue is located at (40.310072,-73.948362). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of , of which is land and (1%) is water.[1] As of the census[2] of 2000,[3] there were 6,711 people residing in the borough: 3% black or African American; 93% white; 2% Native American; 0% Asian; 0% Pacific Islander; and 1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1%. 8%of all households were made up of individuals and 2% had someone living alone who was 65 years old or older

Patchogue, New York is a town in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 7,688 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York City metropolitan area. The town was founded by colonists in 1693 as Poughkeepsie and named for Edmund Spenser's father-in-law, Sir John Patch (1579–1641). When the Revolutionary War began, Poughkeepsie sided with the British and was captured. However, because of its strategic location near Lake George and its importance as a stop on the Hudson River Railroad, Patchogue remained free until 1776 when it became a capital of Westchester County. In 1802 it became part of the newly created Town of Yonkers. During World War II, Patchogue functioned as an important military center for training American troops overseas. In 1945 it came under Indian control following the war's conclusion and from then on was known as "Pahuchie". Afterward it achieved self-government and adopted a new name - Patchogue Village - in 1957. The village has since been renamed to its current name - Patchogue - after Chief Joseph Worcesterk's visit there in 1907. In 1966Patchogue Village merged with neighboring communities to form Northold Township which still exists today as an unincorporated community within Suffolk County
In 1664, the Dutch took possession of what is now Patchogue. The town's first settler was Andries van der Post, who arrived in 1665. By 1677, the town had a population of forty-eight people and a smallpox outbreak in 1702 killed most of the original settlers. In 1814, when the Gutta Patrician family became owners of the land around Patchogue Harbor, they decided to name their community after their ancestor, Peter Guttaertszoon (1626–1704).
