In 1894, Patchogue's first optical store was opened by Julius W. Sachs and his wife Sophie. They were the first business in town to sell optical instruments and equipment. The store continued to be a mainstay in the town until the early 1960s when it closed its doors permanently due to lack of interest from customers. The Optical Shop at 5 Main Street reopened in 1963 as a popular tourist spot for those who wanted to see what the old-timey Patchogue had to offer. The shop was run by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hirschhorn until their death in 2006. Their son, Bob Hirschhorn Jr., took over running the shop until his retirement in 2014. since then, the shop has been managed by their granddaughter Alice Hirschhorn-Carter who also happens to be an avid collector of antique optics products (www.myamazingopticalstorepatchogue2104). Since its reopening, Alice's Optical Shop has become one of Patchogue's most popular tourist spots - both because of its historical significance and because of the beautiful displays of antique optics products that are on display throughout the store! Visitors can enjoy browsing through all sorts of different items from glassware to microscopes - everything from ancient relics to modern marvels! Some old timers even say that Alice's offers some of the best prices around when it comes to optic sales!

Today, their products are distributed all over the United States and around the world.
Patchogue, New York is a small town located in the Adirondacks of upstate New York. The population was 7,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Saratoga County, New York Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name " Patchogue" is derived from Old English "patcha" meaning "a piece of land". The first settler in what is now Patchogue was Nicholas Pappenheim, who arrived in 1666. Isaac Brockman and his family settled here in 1773. By 1800, Patchogue had a population of about 350 people. In 1814, John Davenport established a trading post on the east shore of Long Lake near present-day Indian Point. He named it Postonogue after himself and his brother-in-law Daniel Poston (1764–1828). In 1822, when Charles Wetherbee bought several thousand acres (about 6 square miles) along the Canadian River in what is now Saratoga County from Nathan Phillips Jr., he began to develop it into what is now Patchogue—the only village within Saratoga County until that time. Under Wetherbee's guidance, agriculture became the dominant sector of the community's economy; wheat and maize were early crops grown hereabouts; but also cattle and sheep were raised for their meat and wool products. There are several historical sites in or near Patchogue worth visiting: one is Davenport's tavern (now an art museum), which served as headquarters for local traders during its earliest days; another - Historical Monument No. 3 - commemorates Battle of Brandywine Creek (December 8th & 9th 1777), fought between British forces under General Sir George Washington and American forces under General John Forbes; while still another - Historical Monument No . 4 - marks where Fort Niagara once stood before it was destroyed by fire on July 14th 1865 A post office called Postonogue was established at this location on October 25th, 1825; but due to changes brought about by railroad construction across county lines during that era, it continued to be called Saratoga Springs until February 2nd 1862 when it changed its name to Patchogue proper.. In 1856–57 there was an unsuccessful attempt by Proctor Woodruff – owner/operator of a sawmill south of town - to build a steamboat propeller mill on East Lake without taking into consideration whether or not water could be available from West Lake nearby In 1861–62 William McKinley visited this area whilecampaigning against Abraham Lincoln After being asked about how he would deal with Native Americans living around him – including some friendly Iroquois people whom he referred to as 'tigers' – McKinley replied: 'I never saw any tigers myself'. For many years after that visit no further progress was made towards building such a mill because problems with water availability soon emerged A new dam built northwest of post office enabled hydroelectric power generation starting in 1935 When independence came about for India on August 15th 1947Patchgue got involved with all aspects associated with organizing things during that critical time like setting up stores selling food items etc

Patchogue, New York is a town in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. Patchogue was first settled by English colonists in 1614 and became a town on December 11, 1784. The town was named for Captain John Patch (1612-1682), who explored and surveyed much of what is now eastern Suffolk County. In 1857, the towns of Northport and Southold were merged into Patchogue; this merger created an incorporated village with a population of 7,500. On March 15, 1892, the village became a city after it passed an election to become one with a mayor and city council. Patchesborough State Park lays claim to being America's oldestState park open to the public as well as its most visited park with over 2 million visitors annually The history of Patchogue goes back before there even were states in America! As early as 1614 Dutch settlers called it Patchewoga or Pachtzoga meaning "place where we found acorns". A plaque located at the entrance to Patchesborough State Park commemorates this date In 1764 General George Washington toured American provinces during his tour through North America and noted that he had never seen anything likePatchogue which consisted of many small villages spread out across many square miles . So when he came upon it on his return trip some two years later he ordered Colonel James Moore from Albany to take him round . Thereafter patchesville grew rapidly becoming an important center for trade due to its location within easy reach of other settlements On December 11th 1784 John Patch founded Patchogue Village here after mapping out all that would eventually become present day Eastern Suffolk County
The town of Patchogue, New York was first settled in 1798. The area now known as Patchogue was part of the Dutch colony of New Netherland and was renamed after the English town of Patchogue, Suffolk, England in 1624. In 1772, the town of Patchogue became a part of what is now Nassau County. In 1868, the Town Board voted to change its name to "Patchogue," after its location on Long Island.
