In 1838, the first gun magazine in the town of Patchogue, New York was published. The magazine was called "The Rifleman." The first issue had a circulation of twenty-four. It was printed on two-dollar paper and sold at the local grocery store. In 1859, the first rifle magazine in Patchogue was published. It was called "The Rifleman's Herald." The first issue had a circulation of sixty-six. It was printed on three-dollar paper and sold at the local hardware store. In 1915, the first shotgun magazine in Patchogue was published. It was called "The Shotgunner." The first issue had a circulation of ninety-six. It was printed on one dollar paper and sold at the local post office.
There are many types of magazines for handguns. This magazine was used on rifles such as the Springfield and Spencer muzzleloaders, as well as shotguns like the 12ga pump action shotgun and bolt-action rifles like the Winchester Model 1886. The 1871 Springfield Rifle Magazine also became popular with revolvers such as Colt’s New Model revolver and Smith & Wesson’s model 686 Dragoon revolver because it allowed these firearms to hold more rounds than traditional single stack magazines. Another early development was the 1911 Pistol Magazines which were created by John Browning in 1911 for his new .45 ACP handgun. These magazines featured 10 rounds in each side drum which would hold 6 rounds total inside of one large drum. This magazine also became popular with revolvers such as Colt’s New Model revolver and Smith & Wesson’s model 686 Dragoon revolver because it allowed these firearms to hold more rounds than traditional pistol magazines that used 5 or 8 round drums. As time passed, other manufacturers began to produce their own versions of gun magazines including Glock’s G-10 magazines, Smith & Wesson M&P magazines, Sig Sauer MAG P239 magazines, Beretta MAGAZINE 9mm pistols etc.; however, all modern handgun magazines typically feature at least 20 Rounds per side (RPS).

Patchogue, NY is a small town located in Southern New York on the banks of the Hudson River. The population was 8,653 at the 2010 census. Patchogue is one of two towns that make up the town of Southold on Long Island, and it lies just south of Sayville, NY. The name “Patchogue” originates from Dutch origins and means “patchwork” or “jigsaw puzzle.” The first settlers in what is now Patchogue were Dutch farmers who arrived in 1624. They built a log cabin on an island in the river and named it Vlissingen (meaning “Island Settlement). In 1642, they moved to their current location and began to cultivate land. They developed a deepwater port on the Hudson River which became an important commercial center during the 18th century. In 1785, when New York State was organized as a new country, Patchogue became part of Westchester County under Governor George Washington’s recommendation because itswrote lands east of White Plains had been taken by other counties in western New York without representation or compensation. The first school opened in 1814 in a log building near present-day Route 9A and Broadway. A second school was built in 1825; this one burned down but was rebuilt with iron framing and renamed after Mrs. John Jacob Astor Sr., one of America’s richest women at that time- becoming one of only four schools open to girls until 1893 when all public schools were gender segregated through Title IX legislation (the Elementary Education Act). One hundred years ago today, on December 6th 1911, Patchogue native Francis Hennepin set foot upon American soil for what would be his last trip as an immigrant: he boarded the SS Empire Builder at Port Jefferson Station for his journey northward aboard ship which would take him 1,500 miles across Canada to arrive finally at his family homecoming – over 2 ½ years after leaving Holland! After disembarking from ship at Montreal he made his way back home by horseback on frozen winter days before finally being transported by wagoncarriage 1½ miles into unincorporated Westchester County where he erected his family farmhouse later known as Northport House … soon followed by Southold Hall! In 1917 there were 7 families living within 3 blocks along Main Street including 4 Lowells who raised chickens for eggs then sold them fresh off their pen next door to our local grocery store called Schuster's Grocery while also playing music nightly outside their front porch lighted porch area………. all these memories still exist today………………….. more than 50 years later we still have our own live music group out doing things different every night….. seems like life goes On……….PATCHOGUE
The first gun magazines were created in the early 1790s. Gunsmiths, who needed to keep track of their inventory, developed these magazines to help do so. At that time, handguns were still being made with reloadable rounds and pistols were not yet standardized into magazine types. These magazines helped keep guns in stock and organized. In 1836, a bill was passed that required all firearms dealers to sell gun magazines as well as ammunition. This law also provided for the regulation of these magazines by the government. The following year, Congress passed a bill that improved upon the requirements of the 36th Amendment in 1871. This amendment regulated pistol grip rifled barrels possessed by citizens over 21 years old and required any weapon chambered for shot or powder to be heated on an open flame before firing.

The first large-capacity magazines were developed in the early 1970s by Magpul, which began to produce them in 1977. The town of Patchogue, New York was founded in 1795 by the Dutch. The town's first settler, Johannes Kieft, arrived in 1798 and built a small farm on what is now the north side of Main Street. In 1802, Kieft's son-in-law, Cornelius Vanderbilt, bought his father's farm and laid out a town square on it. By 1812, Patchogue had a population of around 100 people. In 1814, when the U.S. acquired Upper Canada from Great Britain as part of the Treaty of Ghent, Patchogue became part of New York state. After Jay Peak was completed in 1819 and linked to New York City by railroad in 1825, Patchogue's population began to increase rapidly. By 1830 there were over 1,000 residents in thetown square alone. In 1850s and 1860s Patchogue experienced an influx of Italian immigrants who worked on farms or as artisans throughout the area; many families established themselves permanently in the town after arriving here overlanders from Southern Italy (or " passage men"). On July 14th 1861 during America's Civil War – during days when black Americans were not allowed to serve in army billets - four African American soldiers from rural Union County unit named John Brown posed for a photo at Main Street Presbyterian Church with children playing nearby before marching into Harper’s Ferry to freedom one day later
