By 1725, there were over 40 traders operating out of Patchogue Harbor trading with all over North America including Newfoundland and Nova Scotia In 1807, John Stevens founded Stevens Point on Hudson's Bay Territory because he wanted to find a route to China through Siberia without going through Russia or Asia Stevens Point became one ofAmerica’s most important cities because it supplied food for Boston during World War II When Japan bombed Pearl Harbor on September 2nd 1941 American companies such as J P Morgan & Co., Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Ford Motor Company responded quickly by putting together an armada called Battlefleet Washington which consisting of 25 battleships - 5 heavy cruisers/destroyers (USS Brooklyn USS Delaware USS Quincy USS Tacoma), 11 submarines (Nautilus SS-206 HMS Dolphin HMS Hampshire HMS Prince Of Wales HMS Repulse HMS Sheffield), 3 PT boats(PT boat LST-621 PT boat TU-134), 8 Landing Craft Infantry(LCI(L))and 1 Helicopter Gunship(HG-1). This was one ofthe largest naval engagements in history

Patchogue, New York is a town in Sullivan County, New York, United States. The population was 5,595 at the 2010 census. Patchogue is located on the southern shore of Long Island and is part of the New York City metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what is now Patchogue was John Tryon in 1776. He became one of the proprietors of Tryon's Patent (later called Tryon's Manor). In 1814, Alexander McGowan purchased an acreage near present-day Patchogue from Tryon for $5 per acre. McGowan renamed his land "McGowan's Harbor". At this time, it extended into present-day Southampton COUNTY and included parts of present-day Hempstead and Islip townships as well as much of Montauk Point Harbor. In 1825, Isaac Smith bought an additional 2 1/2 acres from McGowan for $10 per acre and named it "Smith's Landing". Smith developed the landing into a wharf which he used to bring goods upriver to be sold at market in Kingston or Dunbartonshire. By 1830, Smith had built a house there which remains extant today as Old Smith House Museum #1. In 1827–29, George Washington Cable passed through Smith's Landing on his way to Kingston from Montauk Point Harbour after conducting experiments with electricity using kite flying across Long Island Sound; this event has been commemorated annually by cable flyers over Long Island Sound since 1927. In 1836–37 Henry Van Buren leased 4 acres from William Johnson for $50 per year; this tract later became known as Van Buren Place (the current location of State University College). The basement level of what is now State University College was originally used by Johnson for storage during his time as landlord; when he died in 1840, his family donated the building to college free of charge. In 1850 Nathan Weeden organized a group that self-named themselves the "Patriots" because they desired to promote local independence from Great Britain; this group met regularly at Weeden's Tavern until their disbanding six years later due to lack of support。 The first post office opened in Patchogue on December 12th, 1851 under the name Kingsburyville after Postmaster General James Knoppers allocation (). The name change came about because postal service operations were then conducted outofKingsburyvilleamidstthe competitionofNewYorkPost Office(thenamedVanBurenPlace)andLongIslandPacketpostoffice(thenamedMiddletownPostoffice).
