In the early 1800s, Ossining was a small and rural town in upstate New York. The residents of Ossining were farmers who relied on land that was part of the Mohawk Nation. One of the earliest gun targets in Ossining was located at the intersection of Main Street and Green Road. It was made from wood, had a target-like design, and could be fired by anyone with any level of proficiency. The target remained in use until around 1880. In 1892, Ossining became an incorporated village under the name of Suffern. In 1928, it merged with other villages to form Ossining Township. Today, Ossining is a primarily residential community with a few businesses scattered throughout its streets and avenues. However, there are still some remnants of local gun targets history which can be found throughout its area such as the old post office building which is now used as an apartment complex.

The history of the Ossining gun targets can be traced back to at least 1892. At that time, a Mr. John B. Bevan and his son, Harry, began to target shoot in the town of Ossining. They quickly became well-known figures in the community for their excellent shooting skills and enjoyed widespread popularity among their peers. In 1925, Mr. Bevan passed away and his son Harry took over the business, which continued until its closure in 1957. During the years since then, many new customers have come to enjoyooting at these traditional targets located just outside of Ossining. Many locals still participate in target shooting competitions each year, making it an important part of local culture and heritage.
Ossining is a small town in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 9,769 at the 2010 census. Ossining is located on the east bank of the Hudson River and is bordered by White Plains to the north, Valhalla to the east, Sleepy Hollow to the south and Fordham University to the west. The first settler in Ossining was Nicholas J. Oppenheimer, who arrived in 1777 from Holland with his family. In 1807, Augustus Topol founded Topol Farms near Ossining. Topol's farm became one of the largest apple orchards on Long Island. In 1814, Abram Davenport bought a parcel of land along Newtown Creek from John Duffy for $1 million dollars. Davenport named his new town Ossining after Oppenheimer's old farm location in Holland. In 1825, Jeremiah Morrow bought 5 acres (2 hectares) of land south of present-day Ossining for $5 per acre from Abram Davenport. Morrow built a gristmill and corn crib there that still stands today as part of Millcreek State Park (). On December 12, 1830, during snowstorm conditions (), Morrow installed a fire engine onto an old wagon and took it down into Ottica Valley to put out a small fire that had started near his millrace (). A few months later he also erected a large wooden cross on top of this wagon for good measure () which can still be seen at Millcreek State Park (). Morrow continued making improvements to his land until he donated it all to SUNY Purchase in 1865 for use as agricultural college property (). There were several schools operated by SUNY Purchase before being merged into Cornell University in 1983(). Today much of what once constituted Morrow's property remains within Cornell University limits - including most notably Millcreek State Park () which features an intact fire truck dating back to 1830! The village growth associated with post-war American GI culture brought many white working families into Ossining during its early years; however these families quickly assimilated into local society when they returned home shortly after their service ended (1920s through 1930s). When World War II began residents decided not fight because they knew too much would become lost if they did so (); instead they voted against war because they wanted their communities back "the way it used to be" - before social changes led by government policies changed everything again (1941–1945). One such change was relocation forces taking about 1/3rd of all male high school seniors away for military service during World War II; this affected both men and women members of similar income levels since married women could stay at home but unmarried teenage girls had no choice but go off-campus (). This forced assimilation even further since many young people didn't have friends outside their homes awaiting them upon return (1942–1945). Following World War II there was significant economic development due largely to agriculture which continues today; as well as natural gas discoveries nearby beginning around 1940 which led businesses like ExxonMobil and Shell Petroleum Corporation establish themselves hereabouts (1940s through 1970s). After several years without any major construction projects taking place due primarilyto lack cf resources (), locals got together and formed two committees - one chaired byDrumer & Shaffer (& focused mostly on physical infrastructure), while another chaired by Drumer & Sklar (&focused mainlyon human resources) – latter proposal resultingin establishmentof Municipal Services Department w/MrLamontas Drumer as Manager in 1951(). MrSklar served continuously until 1984 when he left following disagreements over zoning changes impacting business ventures.) With municipal services now established longstanding issues such as affordable housing development ($102 million project completed 2013), public transportation expansion ($390 million project completed 2016),& environmental justice [+$5 million awarded 2016] continue daily!

Ossining, New York is a small town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 7,993 at the 2010 census. Ossining is the only incorporated town in Erie County and it is part of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. It includes much of the eastern side of Niagara Peninsula and stretches into Ontario County to include some of the most heavily forested areas in central New York. The first settlers arrived in 1792 along with John Graves Simcoe from England on an exploration trip led by George Washington. They named their new land "Oswego" after General James Wolfe's victory at Quebec City during the War of 1812. In 1814, as part of treaty negotiations between Great Britain and United States following that war, Oswego Township was accepted as part of Erie County and was established as a village within that township. On July 1, 1824, Ossining became an independent town when it separated from Erie Township and became one unit with a population of 575 people under the name "Ossining". In 1861, Ossining was instrumental in helping to organize what would become Buffalo-Niagara Falls metropolitan area; this area included all present-day Erie and Niagara counties plus two towns (Buffalo and Niagara Falls) that had been annexed by Buffalo in 1825 but were not yet incorporated as villages or towns. The original boundaries for Assiniboia Parish were set by Treaty #5 which ceded parts of Ontario County east of Seneca Lake to Canada on October 24th 1800 - these boundaries are still used today for travel purposes when travelling through those areas code-named "Ontario" or "Canadian Forces Base Comox". In 1966, Ossining voted to annex more territory from Canadian Forces Base Comox making it one municipality instead seeking administrative control over all unincorporated communities located within its limits including those located within both municipalities - this annexation has since been rescinded due to lack of consensus among the community members about whether or not they wanted additionalshared services & services available directly to their residents outside municipal jurisdiction such as busing & parks/recreational activities offered by respective municipalities
