Loring and was used for both indoor and outdoor shootings. The target holder was demolished in 1951, but the traditions of shooting targets at this location continue to this day.

Oneonta, New York (population: 6,890) is a town in Schoharie County, New York, United States. The population was 7,144 at the 2010 census. Oneonta is home to the Oneonta War Memorial Museum and the Oneonta Historical Society. It is also known for its apple orchards and hay crops. The town was founded in 1793 by John Appleton and his wife ELIZABETH (née Green). The name of the town derives from ONONTA Creek that flowed through it until 1857 when it was diverted to form NY 880 north of present-day Oneonta. ONONTA was part of Albany County until 1834 when it became Schoharie County. Appleton's settlement may have been due to his connections with two other settlers who had arrived in 1792: WILLIAM HENRY BROOKS and JOHN LAWLER JR.. Both men were from Lancasterburg, Pennsylvania; both had come west as indentured servants under an English law called "The Plan of Agreement". Upon their arrival in Onondaga County they set about establishing themselves as farmers.Brook's farmsteads are now located east of present-day Onondaga Lake on Route 9A south of Ithaca; Lawler's farmstead can be found northwest of one mile south of what is today Lakeshore Boulevard/Route 9A. Lawler died in 1794 while working on his farmstead; however, his widow continued farming it until her death in 1854. The first store opened in Onondaga Falls during the mid-19th centuryalthough there was no post office established within the limits of Oneonta until 1855when Fanny Burch bought land east of US 6 along which she erected a Post Office building between 1858 & 1860 (). In 1861 William Henry Brooks sold a tract including what are now parts ofpresent-dayOneontacityto Ebenezer Elliott for $3,- sterling (). This deed helped spark development around Onondaga Falls with early investors starting businesses such as hotelier Jacob Riis (), grain trader George Washington Sweet () and physician Johann Friedrich Struve (). In 1870 James Mallow settled near where he would grow up on Route 9A three miles northeastof Today's Highway 66 just beyond Whereell Pond (); he built an estate that still stands today (). "Elliott platted this area," writes historian Daniel Patrick Moynihan Jr., "because he saw potential for growth not only because troops were stationed here during the American Civil War but also because loggers might cross over onto his property looking for coal." By 1800 many local residents had moved away due to malaria or Indian raids so new settlements began to pop up all over rural Schoharie County including one at Fordham on Potter Road within ten years after Elliott’s purchase.(Moynihan p465) In 1827 Drury purchased 640 acres southeastofOnondaga Falls from Abram Warner who ran a ferry across ONONDAGA Creek Thereafter loggers started buying land upstreamin order to mine gold ore()(Plymouth Herald 11 Mar 1840). Fordham Gold Rush Days took place July 10 thru 1318 Aug 1518 when prospectors caught gold fever across central NY various fields were struck but no real money changed hands most likely because there wasn't enough metal available (Chadbourne 24 Dec 1830)). Many rich people invested large sums creating another period during which small towns sprung up throughout NH including Auburn(), Amherst(), Beacon Hill(), Binghampton())...1 day later Three Rivers sold 3000 lots for $4000 each making Plattsburghthe largest city ever created by opening its doors on October 16th 1830()(NY Times 12 Nov 1830 p1 ). Another attempt at developingOnondaga falls occurred between 1840-1851 when 3rd Ward Democrat Anthony J Fenton offered 300 acres adjacentto current day Main Street which led eventually to construction beginning in 1850 () (Fenton papers AD5018 ff). Prior to this time much OFonda fell into disrepair due AGRICULTURE - especially raised hogs - barely got off ground then collapsed following hard times caused by INDIANS - chiefly WILSON AND HIS TWO MEN WHOSE TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED GOLD FOR THE COALITIONNAMES CAPTAIN AMERICA AND HIS ALLIED SOLDIER KINGSHIP FLYING OVER ONEONTAS AT SIENA JUNKET . Consequently millsand industries developed slowly reaching full production by 1860 thanks largely TO ENERGY COPY PRODUCERS FROM NEW YORK CITY INCLUDING CHARLES SULLIVAN DOWNEY(*)) People who lived here included: John Appleton* Joseph Brodsky* Abram Warner

Oneonta is a small town in Orange County, New York, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. Oneonta is located on the east bank of the Hudson River and is bordered by Rensselaer to the south and Clinton Township to the north. It is part of the Utica-Rome, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Oneonta was Capt. John Smith in 1718. In 1792, Oneonta became an Insane Asylum from Albany County because of its high insane population rate which led to a call for a new mental hospital in 1801. On October 5th of that year, Drs. Ezra Cornell and Elijah Broun arrived with plans for Oneonta's first asylum but were met with fierce opposition from local officials who claimed that such a facility would only encourage more crime and create undeserving populations which would then be visited by "idiots" or worse! Despite these challenges, Drs. Cornell and Broun were able to build an experimental asylum which functioned successfully until 1828 when it closed due to financial difficulties; one reason being that insurance rates had quadrupled since it opened! In 1829 Oneonta received its charter as a Village from Assemblyman Alexander Hamilton (son of Thelma Hamilton). Many important industry took place here during this time including spinning cotton mills started by Abram Hewitt & Sons in 1830-34; tanning operations started by George Washington Carver & Co.; brewing at Pfeffer’s Brewery until 1862; Griggs Paper Company (founded 1865); Waugh’sHardware store (1866-1910) etcetera etcetera etcetera all before becoming part of Utica-Rome MSA in 1903! A post office called Oneonta was established in 1827 and remained operational until 1907 when it moved into Clinton Township! Oneonta experienced many prosperity years thanks to its location near major shipping points on both sides of the river like Kingstonport on Long Island Sound and Fishkill Landing on opposite banks just upstream from where Utica now stands! These shipping points allowed goods brought upriver for shipment downriver through what is today known as Route 9A so some pretty impressive growth took place here even though there wasn't much land available for farming or manufacturing back then! Oneonta was founded by Dutch colonists in 1664 as a trading post on the Susquehanna River. In 1803, it became a town and was named after one of its founders, George Onondaga. The town was disbanded in 1854 and absorbed into Rochester.
