In 1865, Samuel Mathers built a log cabinnear where Main Street intersects with Mohawk Avenue today known as Old Mathers House which still stands today unoccupied and unused as an historical landmark; it served as both home and business headquarters for many years until damage by fire caused it to be abandoned in 1984. In 1892, local pastor James Purdy purchased land adjacent to present day Main Street from Zadok Webster for $1 per acre; this property would become home to Purdy's church forever afterwards becoming known locally as The Wellesley Schoolhouse Complex". In 1921 Harry Schieffer bought 3 acres north of current day Park Road from George Acker for $10 per acre; this would become Schieffer's personal farmstead known today under his name "Schieffer Farms". During World War II, much of what is now Park Road was used for military housing including barracks for mechanics and other skilled workers who were needed during wartime production; buildings such as these are still extant today but have been converted into condos or apartments over time. Today most residents living within walking distance either attend class at nearby Utica High School or take public transportation to their jobs located just outside town limits within 1 mile radius

In 1809, Ononta became part of the United States and remained part of its borders until the year 1919 when it became a part of Canada.
