Additionally, there are several small shops and restaurants located within walking distance of most residents. In recent years, Gun Owners Against Crime (GOAC) has been active throughout New York City working toward making firearms regulation more effective while countering criminal behavior utilizing education campaigns targeting criminals themselves as well as DCS (Departmental Center for Security)officers assigned to prosecute crime against civilians through gang activity etc.). The name of the original village was "Wenona". In 1874 Oneonta received an addition to its name from General John Pope when he donated land for a military road between Oneonta Junction and Rochester. In 1907 the town added an industrial park to its boundaries which remains one of its most important economic engines today with such businesses as Hercules Manufacturing Company (now part of Caterpillar), Northrop Grumman Corporation (now Lockheed Martin) and others located there. The population began dropping rapidly during World War II due to war-related employment losses but has gradually grown back since then although still below pre-war levels. A major attraction of Oneonta these days are its annual agricultural shows sponsored by local farmers which include livestock displays and exhibits from all over the world as well as educational programs about food production and agriculture for toddlers through high school students – something that has continued even into recent years despite some tough weather conditions throughout much of 2018/19!
