The first target holders were made in Olean, New York in 1868. In 1888, the company moved to Rochester, New York and produced their own targets. The company was bought by Browning Manufacturing Company in 1916. In 1938, the company merged with Winchester Ammunition Company and continued producing its own targets until it closed in 1965.
Olean is a small town in upstate New York, located on the east side of the Sawtooth Mountains. The population was 7,643 at the 2010 census. Olean is one of two towns in Erie County, New York (the other being Niagara Falls) and is part of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls-Toronto Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what would become Olean was Nicholas Applegate in 1786. He built a cabin on the hill overlooking today's town and named it after his father, Albany Nicholas Applegate alias "Nigel". In 1824 Nathaniel Fenton bought land from Applegate for $10 and started farming there. In 1826 he married Catherine Haggerty and moved to present day Olean. The first post office opened in Olean on October 15th, 1827. In 1865, when Canandaigua and Niagara Falls were merged into Toronto as one city, Olean became part of that city's new transportation system - the Toronto Railway Company Line - which linked downtown with most of inland Ontario. Erie County remained separate until 1886 when it was combined with Ontario to form New York State as a result of statehood legislation passed by President Grover Cleveland. With its own courthouse and jail (now converted into housing), school District No. 1 (later renamed "Olean School District"), Church Street Millinery Ltd., general store (now occupied by Pinnacle Bank) and several small businesses lining Church Street between Main Street and Third Avenue developed during this time period--termed "The Golden Age" of village life because so much progress had been made within such short distance of so many people! When World War I broke out in 1914, many men from upstate New York came down to fight; among them were Jens Nielsen who became mayor of Buffalo after the war ended and foundedNiagara Mills munitions factory; Mathias Sinden who ran successful insurance businesses; Alfred Sorensen who founded Sorensen's grocery store; John Macy who organized local merchants into a cooperative to build an oven used at George Washington Bridge during Prohibition; August Stricker whose familyowned sawmill produced lumber for paper manufacture; John Madden who established Madden Bros., auctioneers & real estate agents; Paddy Sheehan co-founder & owner beverages bottling plant at Ramapo Lake near Kingston NY now operated by Diageo Canada Limited.; Harry Haderlein also fought wars including World War II serving as captain Ulysses S Grant Battalion 25th Infantry Regiment headquartered at Fort Snelling Minnesota before being discharged due to illness back home December 3rd 1945

This model featured an illuminated crosshair sight and an adjustable iron sights.
Olean is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 5,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Buffalo–Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. Olean was founded in 1800 by Loyalists who fled the American Revolution. The first settler in what is now Olean was Abram DeWitt and his family. In 1827, James Aiken bought land from Abram DeWitt and built the first gristmill on Beaver Creek. In 1831, John & Ebenezer Ryder established a sawmill on Beaver Creek and also began to raise hay for their farm animals. George Hargrave opened a store at Main Street and Third Avenue in 1834, becoming one of the earliest merchants in town. By 1840, Olean had five stores and eighty-six residents. The first post office was established in 1837; it remained operational until 1865 when it was renamed Clydemore after General David Clydemore (1812-1877).
On January 1, 1785, the town of Olean was incorporated as a village. On February 13, 1825, the village became an incorporated town. On July 16, 1928, the town changed its name to Olean-on-the-Hudson. The present name comes from the original name of the town (Olean) and the river on which it sits (the Hudson).
