In 1847, a pistol factory was established in Ogdensburg by John J. Parker and Samuel Goudreau. They produced revolvers weighing up to 4 pounds with barrels that were around 26 inches long. In 1852, a rifle company was organized in Ogdensburg and began making rifles using imported French arms. By 1860, there were three rifle companies operating in the town: one made artillery guns; one made rifles; and one manufactured pistols. In 1861, New York state became a Confederate States of America and many citizens turned their weapons against their southern counterparts. This led to an increase in gun ownership within Ogdensburg as well as outside of it for protection purposes during this time period. During World War II, many munitions factories located in New York City were closed due tobombing raids on the city throughout 1941-1942 which caused significant damage to buildings and businesses within the city center including the Arsenal Factory on Barclay Street (now called Park Avenue). As a result, much OfOgdensburg’s handgun manufacturing heritage went undocumented until recently when sources began to surface describing particular revolver models from this era as “gunsmith quality” firearms that could only have been created at a more advanced firearm factory such as Colt or Singer rather than lower-quality workshops operated by civilians like those used by Parker & Goudreau during this time period

Ogdensburg is a town in Schuyler County, New York, United States. The population was 7,811 at the 2010 census. Ogdensburg is located on the southern border of Schuyler County and lay along the Mohawk River. It is part of the Buffalo–Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The history of Ogdensburg can be traced back to 1795 when French Revolutionary War veteran General Nicolas-Jacques Conte granted a tract of land south of present-day Ogdensburg to local settler John Day. In 1802, James Fenton purchased all but one acre (0.40 km²) of the land from Day and laid out a town on it called "Newburgh". In 1814, Dutch fur trader Cornelius Kieft settled in what is now Ogdensburg and named it after his home town of Utrecht in Holland where he had been born some years earlier. Kieft's family had come to America in 1624 as part of an exodus from Amsterdam during the Eighty Years' War between Protestant Netherlands and Catholic Spain. He erected a summer home near present-day Albany on Lake Ontario about 1815 and named it "Kieft's Landing" for his ancestor Kieft van Nieuwendaal who had arrived in New Netherland in 1621 as part of Dutch trading expedition led by Hendrick Hudsonbeckxand explored the area that would become New York City. In 1830, Kieft's heirs sold their interest in "Kieft's Landing" to Nicholas Herkimer Crouse who renamed it "Ogdensburg". In 1835, George Stephenson built a steamboat navigation company dock at what is now Elmira Terminal Pier on Lake Ontario which allowed shipping access to upstate New York beyond Niagara Falls without having to go through Buffalo or Toronto; this made Ogdensburg an important commercial center for upstate New Yorkers during the days before air travel became common. He also donated land northeast corner lot 8th St., now known as Herkimer Park which still stands today within walking distance of downtown Ogdensburgh with beautiful views over Killian Bay

Ogdensburg was founded in 1795 by Major General George Washington and his wife, Judith. The town was named for General Ogden, an early settler in the area. Businesses in Ogdensburg grew quickly after the first store opened in 1796. By 1805, there were five stores and two hotels. In 1820, the first school opened in Ogdensburgh and continued to operate until 1865. In 1825, a post office was established at Ogdensburgh and remained open until 1868.
