Ogdensburg is a town in Dutchess County, New York, United States. The population was 9,513 at the 2010 census. The name Ogdensburg was given to the community by General George Washington and his troops during the American Revolutionary War. The first settler in what is now Ogdensburg was John Loughlin who arrived in 1785. He built a cabin on the east bank of the Hudson River. In 1806, James Fenton bought land near present-day Fayetteville and started growing corn, wheat and other crops. In 1824, he purchased more land and founded the town of Ogdensburgh on that tract of land. In 1826, when Andrew Jordon settled in nearby Schenectady he named it after General George Washington because that's where his father had been born (George Washington had been born in Scotland). After Andrew Jordon’s death in 1835, his son-in-law Nicholas Biddle took over management of the town and changed its name to Ogdensburgh to honor General Washington’s memory. In 1830, two men from upstate New York decided to settle at what is now Middletown: Isaac Morse and Levi Coffin (the future president of Yale University). They named their new village after Colonel Abraham Lincoln who had attended one of their meetings there while traveling downstate for a campaign rally against slavery on November 5th, 1830. Morse and Coffin were granted permission by Governor Peter Kieft to build a ferry across the river at present day Middletown Landing so they could take passengers across to Morristown for goods or services offered by that small community then located just south of Oneonta Junction on NY Route 9 north of I-95 west of NY Route 14A today known as North Easton opened up this important trade route which helped skirt NEW YORK STATE'S SLavery laws

Ogdensburg, New York is a town in Otsego County, New York, United States. The population was 8,827 at the 2010 census. It is the southernmost town in upstate New York and the only one of the five towns in Otsego County that is not on an Indian reservation. The other four are Onondaga, Cortlandt, Oneida and Seneca Townships. Ogdensburg is named for General John P. Ogdensburg (1786-1851), who fought in the War of 1812 as a brigadier general under Major General George Clinton. The first people to live here were those from Pennsylvania who came here during the early 1800s looking for land to farm. They built their homes on high ground overlooking Lake Ontario and started trading with Indians for goods such as maize and deer meat. Over time many others followed suit until by 1830 there were over 100 families living here. In 1836 Mennonite immigrants from Germany started arriving also and quickly became dominant players in this community. By 1840 there were over 350 residents here with 120 businesses acording to local historian Harry Hohlenthaler. In 1855 some Germans moved into what had been part of Mennonite Township but when NY State seceded from the Union they all changed their surnames to "Ogdensburg" because that's what their new state should be called according to German custom at that time (see German names). The old name still exists among some descendants of these original settlers today though it isn't commonly used anymore outside of special occasions or if someone wants to show defiance against federal government policy Barnstable Point Lighthouse which used to be located within Ogdensburgh proper but now resides in Pawtucket, Rhode Island due to its distance from most major American cities (see list below). During World War II most residents left for military service but a few hundred stayed behind including many farmers who raised cows, pigs and chickens on their farms while men worked in munitions plants near Buffalo Niagara Falls or at Syracuse Army Barracks east of town where nuclear weapons were developed before they went offical production at Peenemunde Army Base nearby (see list below). When America entered World War II everyone wanted desperately whatever food they could get so when rationing began things got really tough especially since Yugoslavia wasn't yet part of America so no produce or meat was coming through our borders just eggs and cheese! So people turned to smuggling techniques like entrapment schemes using small boats filled with refugees trying crossings out of Canada into Ulysses S Grant Park across street from police station) etc etc... But eventually enough Americans woke upEnough was enough! And after months long demonstrations culminating with a march down Main Street chanting "We want bread not eggs" shortages ended finally enabling people back home on October 16th 1942 when President Roosevelt announced plans for massive shipmentsof emergency foodstuffs called Wartime Emergency Food Production Act which gave every American family two days' worth Of food per week freeof charge... After that everything changedIt was known as "The Great Catastrophe". In 1954 following Adlai Stevenson's presidential campaign Ogdensburgh voted 57% against him becoming governor despite his being re-elected twice by wide margins; this may have been related more than anything else to his lack of understanding about farming communities like ours who didn't even have refrigerators then! For years afterwards we've joked about how he might have won if only Oyster Bay hadn't sent him a delegation instead! Anyway back story short: Adlai Stevenson was running for office AGAIN AND AGAIN NEW YORK WAS READY TO VOICE ITS OPINION BUT WITHOUT HIM WE WERE DOOMED TO BE SILENT ABOUT IT ALL!!! We did manage thoughto put together a petition signed by EVERYBODY IN OTSEGO COUNTY asking FDR NOT TO RAISE THE COST OF FOOD FOR THE WORLD WAR III BECAUSE OUR COMMUNITIES HAD REAL PROBLEMS WITH THAT KIND OF QUESTION BACK THEN!!! Needless To say he DIDN'T listenSILENCE CONTINUED FOR EVER!!!!!! Today much has happened since then including the recent fire that burned down parts of town last year leavingbehind rubble and memories forever burnt away!! Our newest mayor is Democrat Crystal Condon WHO IS NOW RESPONSIBLE FOR REbuildING THIS CITY AFTER A YEAR OF HARASSMENT FROM THE STATE GOVERNOR!!!!! Ogdensburg is a town in Chenango County, New York, United States. The population was 1,816 at the 2010 census. The first settler in what is now Ogdensburg was Nicholas Biddle in 1786. A post office called Ogdensburg was established in 1825, and remained in operation until 1901. The town was named for General George Washington's father-in-law, Colonel James Ogden. In 1857, the Erie Canal connected Oswego and Schenectady via Ogdensburg; as a result of this development, the town became an important transportation center for the region. The canal attracted many more settlers to the area during the 19th century than had been possible before because of its proximity to major markets and jobs available on the canalside. In 1896, Republicans founded a local Republican Party Committee which would become one of the most powerful political organizations in Chenango County during that era. Under their leadership, Ogdensburg became one of several towns (along with Auburn and Buffalo) that utilized primary election voting instead of caucus or conventions to select their local officials. This innovation helped create a strong sense of community among these small towns which often functioned independently from larger municipalities throughout much of America during this time period. The growth of industrial production throughout central New York following World War II led to increased job opportunities and population growth in Ogdensburgh; however, traditional farming practices continued to play a large role in its economy until after 2000 when advances in agriculture began使用 genetically modified crops as part of its agricultural production system
