It became one of America’s largest manufacturers of firearms and explosives until it merged with Deming Corporation in 1908. In 1814, Nicholas Brady patented a new way to make gunpowder that allowed him to produce more than one million rounds per day—twice what he had before! His brother James also invented a new way to make explosives that helped increase American war efforts during the Revolutionary War. In 1857, John Brownell started manufacturing dynamite near Buffalo Falls Dam on Niagara River – This was one of the earliest uses of explosives as weapons

Ogdensburg, New York is a small town in upstate New York that is located on the border of Ontario and Pennsylvania. The population was 2,844 at the 2010 census. Ogdensburg is part of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls-East Aurora, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town's name comes from Ogden (a Scottish settlement), which was founded by fur traders in 1784. The first settler here, Peter Doherty, arrived in 1785 and named the tract for General James Ogden who had helped to defeat British forces at Saratoga in 1777. In 1814, John Witherspoon bought land herefrom Peter Doherty and laid out a township on what is now Main Street. In 1824, he donated all of his land to the people of Buffalo who built a village thereon called Ogdensburg. In 1828, Ogdensburg incorporated as a village under the name of Buffalo Niagara Falls with a population of 513. In 1857, when Canada became an independent country, it decided that its borders would be defined by its rivers rather than by state lines so Erie County then became part of Ontario along with Niagara Falls and Holland Landing while Oswego County remained within New York State. This change created some tension between the two provinces but ultimately ended when both Canada and New York approved their new boundaries exactly one year after they were created

Ogdensburg was founded in 1785 by Captain John Ogdensburg and his wife, Sarah. The town was originally named after General George Washington's home state of New York. It has since been renamed three times- once in 1881 to honor prominent local doctor Augustus Earle Kelley, again in 1922 to commemorate Mayor James Fenton and again in 1978 to honor Governor Nelson Rockefeller. Ogdensburg is located on the banks of the Susquehanna River, close to the Pennsylvania border. The first settlers arrived in 1785 and were led by Captain John Ogdensburg and his wife Sarah. The original homes of the early settlers were built near what is now downtown Ogdensburg. In 1881, the town was renamed after Augustus Earle Kelley, who had played a large role in developing southern Ontario County into one of the most thriving communities on Long Island. He also served as mayor from 1922 through 1938 and later became an important figure within New York State politics. In 1978, Governor Nelson Rockefeller won election to succeed him as governor of New York and he designated Ogdensburg as one of his favorite towns on Long Island. Today, it remains a popular tourist destination for residents and visitors alike due to its beautiful scenery along the Susquehanna River and rich history
The town of Ogdensburg was founded in 1785 by Major Jacob Ogdensburg and his wife, Susannah. The first settler in the town, John Fenton, arrived in 1786. By 1810, the population of the town had grown to about 150 people. In 1811, a steamboat called the "Ogdensburg" reached from Utica to New York City and landed at what is now known as Main Street in Ogdensburg. The passengers disembarked and walked to the local market for their goods. In 1824, residents of Ogdensburg formed a village named after themselves and began selling goods at a public square near their schoolhouse. In 1830, they built a larger schoolhouse which served as both their village hall and courthouse until it burned down in 1852. Over time, however, the School District No. 2 erected two more schools in neighboring towns - one called Haverhill (1912) and Oneida (1963) - so that all children living within 1 mile of any school were automatically taught there. In 1865, future President Ulysses S Grant came through Ogdensburgh on his way to Gettysburg during the American Civil War when he stopped for lunch at an old stagecoach stop on Main Street before continuing on his journey northward. A commemorative plaque dedicated to him sits outside of the Town Hall today
