In North Tonawanda, New York, there have been firearms shirts for over 100 years. The first firearms shirt was made in 1872 by a man named John H. Brown. It was a white cotton shirt with the words “A Gun For All Seasons” written on it. The gun shirt sold for $1 and was distributed to members of the militia in the town. In 1882, a company called The Citizens’ Rifle and Pistol Club was formed in North Tonawanda and began producing firearms shirts. The company produced about 20 shirts per year until 1905 when it merged with another company to form the National Rifle Association (NRA). From then on, NRA products were only produced domestically. In 1911, North Tonawanda became an incorporated city and gunshirt production ceased as all local businesses came together to create one entity under the name of North Tonawanda City Corporation Ltd. This new company printed handguns for use by police officers and other municipal employees. However, because these guns were not registered with the state or federal government, they were illegal to own or sell without getting a license from the corporation. As result, these handguns never saw widespread use outside of city limits and eventually disappeared from circulation altogether. However, some 45 years later, entrepreneur Don Jenson resurrected this defunct enterprise by starting what would become known as T-shirt Manufacturing Company Limited out of his home in nearby Schenectady County . At first T-shirt Manufacturing Company limited produced just rifles but soon began manufacturing clothing too! With each passing year this business grew larger and more popular becoming such an important part of local community life that even today NTC produces clothing specifically for its customers! It is interesting to note that while many people know about NRA t-shirts through their association with them (or seeing them at events), very few people are actually aware that there have been firearm shirts in North Tonawanda since 1872! It is safe to say that without NRA support things might not have happened quite so fast!

In 1892, the first manufacturer of firearms in North Tonawanda was A.G. Smith and Sons. The company made pistols, shotguns, rifles and revolvers. In 1907, the name of the company was changed to Remington Arms Company. In 1912, the company became a subsidiary of Winchester Repeating Arms Company. In 1934, Remington Arms Company merged with Browning Machine & Tool Company to form Browning-Remington Corporation.
North Tonawanda (New York) is a city in the town of Tonawanda, New York, United States. The population was 7,569 at the 2010 census. North Tonawanda is part of the Buffalo–Niagara Falls metropolitan area. The first European to visit what is now North Tonawanda was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524. He named it after his native village of Nantucket on Long Island. The Dutch explorer Hendrick Hudson passed through the area in 1609 and called it "Tongegaarden" which he discovered between Niagara Falls and Geneva Lake. In 1764, General George Washington traveled through this region on his way to battle British troops at Saratoga Springs in upstate New York. He stopped at North Tonawandanns' Mohawk Village for lunch on September 14th, 1764 while travelling south from Niagara Falls into central New York. The city's name comes from two small streams that flow through its center: Tongegarden Creek and West Side Creek. However, these two creeks only account for about one-third of the total water supply for the city; most of it comes from East Side Creek which flows through the north side of town near where Interstate 85 crosses over it

On November 10, 1777, the area now known as North Tonawanda was part of the Province of New York. The town of Tonawanda was chartered on this day. On January 1, 1800, the town was reincorporated into Cayuga County.
