On January 1, 1881, parts OF Amsterdam and Auburn Townships were added to Chemung County from Tioga and Broome counties respectively; as a result, much larger areas than those previously mentioned became part of Newburgh - including most notably upper Honeoye Falls). In 1827-1828, large numbers of Irish Catholics began migrating from Ireland into what is now Upstate New York under British rule following the unification of Ireland under British rule following World War I (1914-1918). Many Protestant families also migrated during this time period dueto economic opportunities available in Ulster Province whichBTI ruled at that time%.
