New Rochelle, a town in Westchester County, New York, is located on the southern bank of the Hudson River. The population was 25,471 at the 2010 census. In 1701 John Stiles founded a farm called White Plains which he named after his benefactor Sir Peterfeild Waldegrave (1646-1723), 4th Baronet (later 1st Viscount Galway). He also erected a small chapel thereon dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary with interiors by Pieter van der Zyden and other Dutch painters. As early as 1715 Nicholas Roecker had built a house on present-day Washington Avenue between 50th and 52nd Streets in what is now downtown New Rochelle In 1807 John Jacob Astor purchased 2,500 acres (10 km²) of forest east of modern day Greenwich Village from Nicholas Roecker for $2 million dollars making him one of America's largest landowners. This allowed Astor to build up his original adobe building known as the Gilded Age House which still stands today at 105 Park Ave., adjacent to Penn Station across Sixth Avenue from what is now Macy's Department Store complex. For many years it served as Astor's private home until it was sold to businessman Abe Pollin in 1957 who renovated it into office space used by several major banks before being sold again in 1988 to real estate developer Saul Ansky whose family ownership changed hands several times before it reverted back to Ansky in 2000; finally coming under control of media tycoon Rupert Murdoch during 2006–2007 when he merged his Newspapers holdings with those of News Corporation plc.. In 2003 Ansky donated much of his contents – including over 350 years' worth of manuscripts from the papers belonging to English author Rudyard Kipling –[1] including all but one letterpress printing press then extant within Hearst Castle,[2] to Yale University where they are currently stored under glass case since 1954

A high capacity conversion is a term used in the electrical industry to describe a process of increasing the number of an existing appliance or device from its original capacity (in terms of wattage) to its current maximum. This led directly to increased production for halogen lamps because it made them easier and cheaper to produce larger numbers at a lower cost overall compared to traditional incandescent lamps! New Rochelle was first settled in 1712 by the French and Indian War veterans, who named it after the French town of Roqueclaire. The area that is now New Rochelle was part of what is now Westchester County until 1814, when it became part of the newly formed Monroe County. In 1834, the village of Old Rochelle merged into New Rochelle. In 1879, a group of Dutch immigrants founded a farm on what is now Park Avenue in New Rochelle. They named their farm "Nieuwroclaw" and trading post "Vereeniging der Nederlandsche Gedeputeerden van Nieuw-Rochelle". In 1888, they erected a wooden church in honor of their godparents, the Dutch Revolutie leaders Hendrik Czaplinski and Johan Pieterszoon Breugel. The Revolt's final days were spent here as refugees before finally moving to Utrecht in 1893. In 1915, during World War I (1914-18), many Americans from New York City volunteered to fight abroad. Many soldiers from New Rochelle traveled to Europe to help with munitions production and service units. When the war ended, many soldiers returned home with wounds or decorations and decided to stay in America rather than return home immediately – this called for an increase in population growth throughout East Harlem which then led to development around Park Avenue between 93rd Street/Grand Central Terminal Railroad Station and Fordham Road/Ashburn Road as well as other areas within present day Midtown Manhattan including NoHo (now known as SoHo) near Union Square and Clinton Hill just east of Madison Square Garden where today’s Times Square stands

New Rochelle was founded by George Washington in 1785. It became a city in 1824 and was named for General James Wolfe, who had defeated the French at the Battle of Quebec in 1759.
