This type of firearm was primarily used by farmers and other rural residents who had access to little or no public transportation. In 1827, a man named John Aiken set up shop in what is now known as Old Main Square in downtown New Rochelle. He began selling muzzleloaders and other airgun products from his store. By 1830, Aiken had expanded his business into new premises at 222-24 State Street. This location lasted until 1872, when he sold his business to George Halsey for $1,000. In 1873, Halsey started manufacturing firearms at his new factory located on Broadway between State and Wellesley Streets (later renamed Livingston Avenue). From this point forward, Halsey’s company became one of the most successful manufacturers of airguns in New Rochelle – producing both muzzleloaders and pistols (both single-shot and automatic types). Halsey’s factory continued manufacturing firearms until 1907; during that time period, he produced over 1 million guns (pistols first) for sale throughout New Rochelle and its environs. In 1916-17, Halsey merged with two other companies – Hawker & Co., Ltd., which Manufactured Automatic Pistols under license from American Arms Company – to form Alcoa Corporation (now Alcoa Inc.). As part of this merger process, Airgun Manufacturing Plants No. 2 and No 3 were established within Alcoa Corporation’s facilities at 1507 Broadway and 15th Street NW respectively; these plants served as fabrication mills for aluminum parts needed for handguns made by various subsidiaries of Alcoa including American Arms Company (AAC), Colt Firearms Corporation (COLT), Savage Arms Corporation (SAVAGE), Browning Arms Company(BOWY), Winchester Repeating Arms Company(WINChester) – among others! Interestingly enough, these subsidiary companies also manufactured unique types of handguns not typically found within other gun manufacturers: revolvers chambered outside the traditional revolver calibers (.22 LR/250 yards only); semi-automatic pistols using bolt action mechanisms instead of breechloading rifles such as those produced by Colt Firearms Corporation; pump shotguns chambered for all sorts of rounds including .177 caliber pellets! In 1848, the Erie Canal was completed and made it easy for goods to flow into and out of New Rochelle; this led to increased production and development of the milling industry in the town. In 1892 Sears opened its first store in what is now downtown New Rochelle; it would later become one of Sears' largest stores across America. New Rochelle, New York is a town in Rockland County, New York, United States. The population was 8,614 at the 2010 census. It is the largest community in Rockland County by size and second-largest by population to Bridgeport. The first settleings of what would become New Rochelle took place around 1795 on property purchased from the Dutchman Hendrick van der Zee. The name was derived from a Native American word meaning "the place where they had seen horses." The first settler was Nicholas de Rochambeau. A number of other families followed his lead over the years until 1800 when it became part of Connecticut as part of that state's western boundary line. In 1824, businessman John Pemberton bought a tract of land east of present-day New Rochelle and laid out streets and erected a courthouse thereon in 1825. That same year, he founded Pemberton Insulated Telegraph Company with offices at 5 Broad Street in downtown Rochester (now within the boundaries of Rochester Hills). In 1830s and 1840s, John Pemberton also built many homes in what is now known as Beacon Hill neighborhood near present day Main Street between Clinton Avenue and Park Avenue NW., including one still standing today on Albany Avenue NW., which remains one of America's earliest planned communities In 1847–48 an Earthquake destroyed much of eastern Rochester leaving only 6 blocks or so remaining before reconstruction began under Governor De Witt Clinton; this area became known as Van Cortlandt Park after him A cotton gin operated by Elijah Smith opened its doors at 214 Main Street on October 11th 1849 becoming America's first large spinning mill On December 12th 1850 production ceased at this mill due to difficulties with water quality; however it reopened January 7th 1861 as Hartford Cotton Gin Co because new ownership could not agree upon continuing operations under different management Additional businesses located here include: Oneida Turnpike House (1858), Buffalo Ferry Landing (1861), Phelps Dodge reservoir company building (1871), Masonic Lodge No 2 Building (1881) – all were closed soon afterwards but remain extant today as residential districts . On July 10th 1865 Union general Ambrose Burnside ordered all white men must leave Erie County forfive days while troops marched into Buffalo to put down the rebellion; during this time approximately 1/3rd or more locals deserted their homes throughout most if not all villages west & southwest of town
New Rochelle was founded by the Dutch in 1664 as a small trading post on the southern tip of Manhattan.
