Mount Kisco, New York is a small town in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. It is located on the border of Orange County and Saratoga County. The population was 7,098 at the 2010 census. The first European to visit Mount Kisco was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524. The town was founded by Cadzio arrived there in 1814 from Beatrice, Italy with his family. Cadzio's father had been a military general and he became a trader and real estate developer. In 1846, Cadzio donated land to the town for a public school, which still stands today as the Mount Kisco School District No. 1 . In 1868, members of the local militia banded together to repel an attack by intruders from Canada who had landed on Long Island Sound. The American side lost three men killed and eight wounded; the Canadian side lost one man killed and six wounded

Mount Kisco, New York is a small town in Greene County, New York, United States. The population was 2,839 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Utica–Rensselaer Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area where Mount Kisco now stands was first settled by Native Americans and later became part of Dutch New Netherland. In 1624, because of the English Civil War, the town of Westchester was created from parts of Dutch Westchester and Albany counties. On November 3, 1625, settlers from nearby Saratoga Springs moved to what is now Mount Kisco and began to build a small community there. They named it after their hometown on the Hudson River in upstate New York: "Kiscode". In 1784, General George Washington visited Mount Kisco while on his way home from an unsuccessful campaign against Great Britain in Pennsylvania. Afterward he ordered that every Indian village within three miles (5 km) be destroyed or burned as a warning to them not to cross his path again. This harsh measure had the intended effect; many Indians did not return to their villages until after Washington's death in 1799. In 1814-1815 consequence of war with Mexico led to large numbers of people leaving America for Mexico City and other Mexican cities seeking wealth rumored to be available there through land grants given out by president James Kiffin (1785-1827). Many who left never returned home and only a few foundations remain today including one which operates a museum dedicated exclusively to this period in American history called "Theader Museum." This exodus had significant consequences for MountKisco as it lost most if its residents who were either unable or unwilling to leave their homes during wartime when food availability was scarce but also brought about high levels of political instability as different factions competed for control over resources such as land grants that could have brought much-needed revenue into their townships during peacetime times.
