In the year 1800, Mount Kisco was a small town in upstate New York. The townspeople were farmers who raised livestock and did not own firearms. In 1824, the local militia Protection Society was formed to provide defense against Native American attacks. At that time, Mount Kisco had only one rifle and two pistols. The society’s first president, Christopher Gansevoort, decided to purchase a gun from a trader in nearby Buffalo. The gun was an Old World muzzleloader called an “Old 150” that had been used by European explorers and soldiers during the Seven Years War. Gansevoort named his new firearm the “Mount Kisco Rifle” in honor of his home town and its history. Over time, Mount Kisco residents began to acquire rifles and handguns for their own protection. By 1830, there were at least six guns available for purchase in the town. Some of these firearms were purchased as part of government contracts or as donations from private individuals or groups such as the Sons of Liberty (a group of men who fought against British rule). Eventually, people in Mount Kisco started to develop their own traditions aroundgun ownership and trigger safety precautions. One tradition that persists today is the use of pre-made triggers on all handguns sold in Mount Kisco. This practice is believed to help prevent accidental fires when someone tries to fire a handgun without proper training or knowledge about how to operate a trigger system

Mount Kisco is a mountain located in the Catskills of New York. The peak reaches an elevation of 4,643 feet (1,535 meters). It is part of the Appalachian Mountains and lies within the town of Ossining. The first Europeans to explore Mount Kisco were Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1495 and Elias Goldsmith in 1614. The name "Kisco" was applied to the mountain by General George Washington during his Expedition against the British on July 10th, 1776. In 1837, John Wesley Longfellow wrote a poem about Mount Kisco called "The Mountain Eve." In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson made a speech at Ossining High School honoring American soldiers who had died in World War I. He said that "the great spiritual home which our fathers built for us around this sacred peak has been reinforced by their sacrifices." In 1934, New York State Senator James Ewing authored a bill that would annex much of Westchester County to New York City effective March 1st, 1935. After much public outcry and opposition from local residents, the bill was repealed two years later due to overwhelming public demand for more rural land within New York City limits.

As part of an effort to boost tourism in upstate New York, the US Army leased land on top of Mount Kisco in 1938 and restored it as a park. Today, Mount Kisco is one of eight national parks administered by the National Park Service. The town of Kisco was founded by German immigrants in 1792 as a fur-trading center for western Canada and central America. By 1814, however, settlement had increased around the Post Office Building on Main Street which served as both a trading post and garrison for Ulysses S. Grant’s army during the War of 1812 (1812-1815). The fortifications at Fort Gratiot were destroyed during that conflict but new ones were erected nearby in 1821 when troops from Buffalo Heights occupied neighboring territory following their victory over General Anthony Wayne’s forces at Battle of Fallen Timbers (August 25-27, 1819). In 1830-31 Major John Cushing surveyed what would become Niagara County and recommended naming it after George Washington because “the great revolutionary general had been so conspicuously conspicuous throughout our republic”—a recommendation that was followed four years later when Congress passed an act designating Niagara County as part of New York State qualifying for statehood under Article IV section 3 of the Constitution (September 14, 1791). In 1840 Erie Canal project began construction along with other important infrastructure projects such as Albany–Niagara Falls roadway and Mohawk River crossing; this area became known as Upper Niagara County beginning in 1841 due to these endeavors combined with others resulting from Genesee Valley Railroad Company construction between Auburn Hills northwestward through Canandaigua/Stony Point eastward into Ontario County (now Vernon) starting late summer or early fall 1840.). Leading up to Indian removal policies enacted by President James Buchanan during his final year in office (April 4-8, 1865), many Native Americans residing near Canadian border towns like Tonawanda Village west of Buffalo decided they wanted nothing to do with those living east thereof due than go along with forced relocation policy mandated by Ulysses S. Grant while he served as president from March 4th 1863 until his inauguration on April 12th 1870.—Some 350 individuals chosen at random from all surrounding communities were forcibly removed en masse under orders given by General Nathan Bedford Forrest who called them “theobjectsof my wrathful anger”.—A total loss estimated at $2 million dollars ($24 million USD)—one third or moreof all agricultural production within present day New York State.—This event marks one outgrowth leading up to American Civil War where residents forcefully removed from their homes occurred across much larger areas across Western NY.—Kiskiwasheen First Nation member Chief Joseph Brant led resistance against Removal campaign waged by federal forces.; see also: Iroquois Wars
