Gun magazines also allowed commanders and their troops to quickly reload their weapons. In the 1870s, two companies, The Manhattan Rifle Company and Colt's Manufacturing Company began manufacturing pistols in Mount Kisco. These pistols were designed to be as easy to operate as possible and were used by military and law enforcement officers around the world. In 1892, The Colt Arms Company was founded in Mount Kisco by George Ballis Chauncey Colt. This company manufactured firearms including revolvers, shotguns, rifles, handguns and machine guns. In 1911, The Empire Ammo Company was founded in Mount Kisco by John Wirtz Sr. This company produced armor-piercing ammunition for automobiles and other vehicles. In 1934, The Empire Ammunition Company merged with American Armory Corporation which became known as American Eagle Ammunition Corporation. American Eagle Ammunition Corporation continued manufacturing ammunition until it closed its doors in 1984. Today there are still a fewgun magazines operating in Mount Kisco that continue to play an important role in the community!

Mount Kisco is a small town in the Catskills of upstate New York, located on the southern edge of the Town of Westchester. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. The first Europeans to visit Mount Kisco were French traders and colonists in 1609-10. The name derived from an Iroquois word meaning "haunted mountain". In 1764, George Washington chartered a trading post at present-day Mount Kisco – then part of Albany County – and named it for his paternal ancestor, Nicholas Kisco (1636-1702). Kiskiattucket Pond is located near today's Mount Kisco Village. A smallpox epidemic killed over 50% of the population in 1814, leaving behind a legacy of fear and paranoia that has often been perpetuated to this day. The first school in what is now Mount Kisco was built in 1819 by Reverend Jameson Davenport. In 1865, when the town became part of New York State, it had only 2 black residents – one African American working as a laborer and one white woman who ran a boardinghouse. In 1892, MountKiscotheatricalsque artist Harry S Truman issued an lithograph called "Happy Valley" which depicted life in town during that year's wintertime; it quickly caught on with residents as an early example of art created specifically for consumption inside locales like these. Today there are multiple restaurants and tourist traps scattered throughout downtown while portions of the village remain populated mainly by elderly tenants occupying former family homes until recently
The first people to live in what is now Mount Kisco were the Mohawk. They arrived in 1614 and started a village that wasrcalled "Hiawatha." The first white man to settle in the area was Captain John Smith, who explored the area in 1764. In 1815, a group of settlers known as The Hermitage moved into the area and began trading with the Mohawks. In 1824, a group of farmers called The Pioneers settled in the area and began growing crops. In 1829, a group of men known as The Mechanics formed a school near present-day Center Street. By 1835, there were more than 50 families living in Mount Kisco. On November 15th, that year, Congress Approved an Act To Establish A Land Grant To George Washington for His Use And Protection.(1) This act created the town of Mount Kisco and made it part of upstate New York.
