A store and blacksmith shop were built in the town center soon thereafter and business grew rapidly thanks to itslocation by the Erie Canal which connected Buffalo with Niagara Falls. In 1836, the state legislature authorized construction of a road from Rochester through Mount Kisco to Cold Spring Harbor on Long Island so that products could be shipped upriver directly to market without having to go through Albany or Syracuse. This road became known as Route 6A or "theChemung Road." During World War II, many residents worked at various munitions plants around Buffalo or Niagara Falls but most residents returned home during hostilities which ended in 1945 just as war production came to an end across much of Europe and Japan alike. The postwar years saw some growth as trade with China increased; however, there was little economic impact upon MountKisco other than increasing population levels until 1970 when racial tension erupted over housing prices within town limits while white residents continued to enjoy lower property values relative to Hispanic/Latino homeownership rates even though these percentages had shifted dramatically since 1950s when race played no role whatsoever in real estate decisions made about where communities should be built or liveable outside metropolitan areas due largely to changing social mores throughout all walks of life – despite nativist rhetoric emanating from certain segments of American society during this period). The first settler in what would become Mount Kisco was Nicholas White in 1784. White founded a log cabin on the site that still stands today. In 1814, John Stephenson founded another cabin at present-day North Kilico Road and Main Street. This establishment became known as "The tavern" and served as a post office from 1815 to 1830. In 1835, Samuel Fenton bought land at what is now West Main Street and East Avenue and began to build a home there called "Fenton's Glen". He named his property "Mount Kisco". In 1842, the NY State Legislature passed an act making Mount kilico an incorporated village with civil powers under the name of Oneonta (now City of Oneonta). On February 17th, 1913, this Town incorporated when it merged with other villages in Ulster County includingonies such as Rome (1846), Amsterdam (1849), Kingston (1851), Clinton (1853), Fort Drum (1854) and South Glens Falls (1855). That same year also saw MtKisco joining Niagara County by annexing portions of Ontario County including parts east of Cayuga Lake. MtKisco's rich water table deposits made it one of the most important towns in Ulster County for agriculturally growing crops like apples and potatoes while also serving as a transportation hub for goods moving between Buffalo and Niagara Falls along with numerous small businesses catering to local residents throughout much of upstate New York during this time period. Many churches were built around this time including First Presbyterian church which still stands today on West Main Street near where Today’s Post Office sits just outside Of course technological advancement has played major role too over these years like many small businesses closed or general stores moved out when internet started becoming widely available but overall history has been pretty stagnant for such an interesting place like MtKisky

In 1776, the American Revolution began and on September 17, the first shots were fired at Lexington, Kentucky. The Battle of Bunker Hill took place two days later and was the first time British forces had faced an open battlefield. On October 25th, General Howe ordered his troops to retreat from Boston after realizing that they would be hunted down by the Continental Army. The Treaty of Paris was signed on November 10th, ending the Revolutionary War. The treaty recognized America’s independence from Great Britain and also granted her a number of rights, including a representation in Congress. Mount Kisco was named in honor of George Washington during this time.
