In 1892, the first target holders were made by Charles Brown of Mineola. The material was a piece of wood with four iron rings at each end, and a leather strap around it to hold it in place. These targets were used for practice at the local shooting range. By 1912, there were more than 50 target holders in use throughout the state of New York. Target holders became popular because they allowed shooters to hit multiple targets at once without having to worry about which one they was aiming for. They also helped improve shooters' accuracy because they didn't need to carry around as many rounds with them when they went shooting.

The name "Mineola" came from two sources: one said that when a man named Mueller found an old millstone at the mouth of a stream called Mill Stream, he called it "Mineola," while another source says that Jameson mined coal here and referred to the place as "Minturne." Both Paper Mills closed down during World War II but reopened again following Victory over Japan! The current Mrs.Lee began school here back in 1951 after her husband's death! These days you can find valuable minerals like uranium off I-79 between Buffalo and Rochester; however back then it was all worth exploring thanks to Augustus Fenton & Empire Falls' pioneering efforts!
