He named his new township after himself and his family: Isaac Babcock's Lake Park Township (now part of West Babylon). The firstPost Office opened in Highland Park on November 12, 1825 under the name "Huguenot". After being redesignated "Mineola" on January 1, 1857 by act of Congress due to its location on Long Island Sound rather than Inland Harbor as Hudson County had proposed, Highland Park Post Office closed October 15th 1959 because so many people had moved away during that time frame that only one building remained standing from when it opened: the old schoolhouse which still stands today within Highland Park limits
