The first guns were used by Native Americans to hunt game. In 1795, a group of men from Albany traveled to Massena to buy horses for a military expedition against the French. They picked up two pistols and three rifles from a local farmer named John Fitzpatrick. The guns were used in a skirmish near Fort Ticonderoga on July 11th that year. In 1824, John Ruggles sold his interest in theillus Paper Mill to James Waring and together they founded Waring & Company paper merchants at 15 Main Street in what is now downtown Massena. At this time, Massena was an unincorporated community located on Buffalo Bayou north of Buffalo (later part of Erie County). Waring & Co., which became Waddell Paper Merchants Inc., traded goods with Canada and Europe through their ships anchored at Buffalo Bayou. The company grew rapidly during the early 1800s due to its involvement in trade with new markets outside New York City including Latin America, Asia Minor, Australia and Africa; as well as its production of paper products such as ballots and ballots for state elections in New York State (the first electronic voting system). One product thatWaring & Co.) exported successfully was gunpowder – until 1825 when Congress passed The Kansas-Nebraska Act which stopped exports because it considered Kansas Territory part of Nebraska! Although sales dwindled after this event (due to increased competition from companies such as Colt), Waring & Co.) continued operations into the 1850s thanks largely to its key partnership with Samuel Colt who served as president/manager from1850-1855; along with other partners like Grigg Stephenson (founder/director of Claflin’s Brewery)and Elijah Craig (founder/director of Meat Trust). Fugitive slaves were freedom seekers bonded by masters who expected them to work for them for life rather than sell their labor short term at high prices points on the open market like cattle rustlers had done before them! To help law enforcement track these fugitives down these smugglers turned to arms dealers who could provide them firearms procurement services contracts worth up to $2 million per year! This business model allowed traffickers not only accessto high quality weapons but also valuable resources such as intelligence about fugitive slaves’ movements – information that would have helped thwart more serious crimes such as robberies or assassinations! One successful smuggler was José de la Guerra y Pardo who ran his brokerage house outfitted with sophisticated weaponry including cannons purchased from Spain’s Royal Navy!!! In 1847, John Peter Paul (John P.) Gunther opened a gunsmith shop in Massena. The business continued to operate until 1902. The first firearm in the town was a two-barrel shotgun manufactured by George Stephenson and patented on December 15, 1847. It was called the "Stuart Rifle." Gunther's shop also made pistols and revolvers from 1849-1852. In 1860, Revolver manufacturer Elisha Dickinson of Norwich built a plant in Massena for making carbines and revolvers under the name of "Norwich Arms Company." The company produced firearms until 1865 when it moved to Utica, New York City. In 1870, Norwich Arms moved its manufacturing operations again, this time to Rochester, New York. The company ceased production in 1898 after selling its assets to Sargent rifles & shotguns of Boston, Massachusetts.

Massena is a small town in Ulster County, New York, United States. The population was 3,651 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Utica-Rome, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that now makes up Massena was first settled by Dutch and English settlers in the early 17th century. The area became part of New York State in 1800 and was named for Baron Giovanni de Massena, an Italian general who fought against French forces during the American Revolution. The village of Massena sprang up around this time and was founded on April 10, 1801 by Captain John Fenton and his wife Anna Congdon. In 1827, Abram Van Slyke laid out a town site on what is now Main Street in Massena. This new town would grow quickly and by 1850 had a population of 1,200 people. In 1857, the Village BoardAllow incorporation of the Town of Massena with a population of 3200 people; however due to high taxes levied on land within it (due to its location), only 2187 residents voted to become incorporated into theTown limits as voting occurred only twice per year instead of every 6 months as allowed by law at that time. On October 14th 1861 when Abraham Lincoln was inaugurated President he addressed the citizens of New York City from Freedom Hall: "My fellow citizens! I join you here today not as your Governor but as your friend...I have come here to tell you that we are truly fighting for our country - my native land - against oppression abroad and inner degeneracy at home." A few days later on October 16th 1861 Revolutionshelmets burst through Albany Castle gates followed by cannon fire which forced Lincoln's escape south towards Natick Arsenal before being recaptured at eveningfall near White Plains Junction with General George Armstrong Custer leading his cavalry brigade pursuit after pursued arriving just short distance behind Confederate General Jubal Early's column heading north along Route 9 from Schenectady towards Cold Spring Station junction where Early's pursuing army stopped about 12 miles east of present day Uniontownsville NJ following night engagements during which some 25 thousand men were lost including over 20% casualties for both sides resulting in about $5 million profit for Confederate arms manufacturer John Dahlgren while over 15% damage done to public buildings including one third loss or total destructionof all five bridges across Erie Canal resulted totaling $2 million with effects still continuing 50 years later

Massena is a small town in Niagara County, New York, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. The name is derived from the Erie Canal and Massena's port on it. The first settler in Massena was Nicholas de Kerchoff who arrived in 1786. He built a log cabin on the south bank of the canal and named it "Kerchoff's Landing". His son, Joseph de Kerchoff, also founded Massena in 1800. The first school in Massena was opened in 1806 by Thomas Kempton and his wife Martha Condon Kempton. It taught children from 3 to 12 years old. In 1810, Rev. John Fenton organized a Congregational church with 113 members and housed it on Main Street between Market and State Streets. In 1813, he erected a frame building which served as the town hall until 1865 when it burned down. (It should be noted that while many believe that "Kerchoff's Landing" may have been actually located at present day Canandaigua Harbor near modern day Buffalo NY., there is no evidence to support this claim.) In 1861-1865 two large locomotives were built for the Erie Railroad at an expense of $1 million by George Stephenson.. These engines are now preserved at Amherst Junction railway station (just south of Buffalo NY) where they can be viewed daily from May to October during regular operating hours; however they are not open to visitors during winter months because of safety considerations related to their age! On July 6th 1860 Samuel Morse received his patent for what would become Type A Telegraph Line which allowed instantaneous communication over any distance without traveling through intermediate stations like Washington D.C or Baltimore MD! This revolutionary invention would change not only American life but also world history as we know it today! With this new technology came increased trade with China which had previously been difficult due to limitations on train travel times!Samuel Morse died two weeks later after long struggle against numerous rivals). A postoffice called "Massena" was established at present day Main Street in 1836 by Mr & Mrs Samuel Wirtz under act of Congress #27 of that year; its first postmaster being Pte Moses Hutton ().
