The park was established in 1922 and covers 8,000 acres (3 km²). The name comes from its location on an island in Central Lake (now known as East Massapequa) within Massapequa Creek. The primary attractions are hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, golfing and tennis. There are also many small parks and playgrounds scattered throughout the community. With this technology came the ability for photographers to capture beautiful landscapes or portraits without having to worry about lighting or being able to shoot in high ISO settings! By the late 1940s however, digital point-and-shoot cameras had become popularized and while Leica continued making excellent optics they decided not to adopt this format so their equipment became increasingly outdated over time. In 1951 however Canon introduced their own digital camera line utilizing interchangeable lenses that were eventually phased out by Nikon in 1978 after many years of development!

Massapequa Park was a historic district in the town of Massapequa, Suffolk County, New York, United States. It encompassed most of the village of Massapequa and included several hundred homes. The original grant for the area was made in 1784 by Governor George Washington to Colonel Samuel Sewall, who also served as Justice of the Peace. The first lot on which Massapequa House stands was purchased by John Darlington in 1804. The first post office at Massapequa Park opened on October 12, 1814. In 1824, a group of farmers founded an agricultural society there called the Agricultural and Horticultural Society of New York. They developed a system for irrigating their land with water from nearby Long Island Sound and built a dam across the River Westchester to do so. In 1848, while still part of Suffolk County, Massapequa Park became part of Rockland County when that county was created from portions of two other counties - Westchester and Nassau - following the admission into full membership of New York state of all its towns except Kingston and Norwich (which remained within Dutchess County). In 1899-1900, more than 1,000 people attended an open house at Massapequa Park organized by Drs. Lewis Huxley (founder and first president) and James Baring (president), both professors at Columbia University's school of medicine; among them were many noted scientists such as Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace. That year also saw the installation as park superintendent new then-Rochester Mayor Abram Hewitt who had been elected to that position after being appointed commissioner for public works by Governor De Witt Clintonihuis. In 1920-21 there were major changes with appointment as Superintendent Jens Woldstad taking over from Assistant Superintendent Ole Hansen; this followed Hansen's retirement after twenty years service in that role; Woldstad is credited with creating one or more parks throughout much or all Nassau County including Putnam Valley State Park near Uniondale while serving as superintendent there from 1944 until his death in 1978.) Massapequa Park was started in 1892 by the father of the current Mayor of New York, John F. Kennedy.
