In 1923, the store moved to its present location on Fifth Avenue. At that time, it became one of the largest optical stores in New York City. In 1951, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Rosenwald bought the store and developed it into a jewelry chain with over fifty locations across New York City. In 1963, they sold the chain to Tiffany & Co., which continued to operate it until 1991 when it merged with Sears Holdings Corporation to form Sears Roebuck & Co..
Mamaroneck, New York is a town in Rockland County, New York, United States. The population was 6,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York City Metropolitan Area. The town was first settled by Germans in the early 17th century. They erected a log cabin on an island in the river and named it "Mamaroneck". In 1797, they built a gristmill on Mamaroneck Point. In 1802, they had a sawmill and gristmill two miles east of their present location. In 1825, John Davenport established a flour mill on Mamaroneck Creek and named it after his wife's family name (Davenport). The mill operated until 1916 when it was sold to Jens Jensen who upgraded it to its present form. The town received its current name from General George Washington during his visit there in 1789-90 as part of his tour of America preceding his inauguration as President of the United States on March 4th that year. With just over one thousand residents at the time of its incorporation in 1898–99, Mamaroneck experienced brief growth until World War II brought about a decline in population due to Armed Forces military deployments throughout the area; however, this has since began to reversed with more recent arrivals coming back into town and furthering economic development associated with tourism including golf courses etc., which have seen significant job growth even while maintainingresidential values within historical norms for such an rural community located outside NYC metropolitan area

Mamaroneck, New York is a town in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 14,000 at the 2010 census. Mamaroneck is located on the southern shore of Lake Ontario and straddles the border of Nyack and Ossining townships. It is one of only two communities in all of Westchester County that are not part of the Bronx metropolitan area. The village was first settled by colonists from England in 1664 as Monmouth Junction along the Mohawk River. In 1714, it became part of Albany after defeat by British forces in the Battle of Saratoga. The same year, Dutch settlers founded a settlement here known as Oudenaarde (now Ossining). English traders and travelers arrived soon afterwards and began to settle here permanently in 1725 with John Smith leading the way. By 1750, there were over 100 families living here including some who had purchased land from the Dutch for $10 per acre (1/4 acre = 50 pounds). In 1807-8 when Buffalo Bill Cody made his famous show at Saratoga Springs against Native Americans during his "Wild West" tour, Mamaroneck played host to large numbers of visitors who came to see him perform or take rides on his horseback around town. In 1827-28 when Buffalo Bill's son Tom went west for military service in Texas during the Mexican–American War, he took with him a small herd of horses that he drove through Mamaroneck on their return trip across Lake Ontario into Canada; this event is commemorated annually by hosts giant hot dogs served at an outdoor rally sponsored by local businesses near where they crossedriver
